hmmmmm...
I have heard from a lot of Honda owners that Pacesetter sucks. I had a Porshe guy tell me the same thing. Let me know if it feels ok. I was thinking about replacing mine, it's a B&M modified to fit and clear the cat but I would like one made specifically for my application...

I'm gonna try that flywheel, too. I went the cheap route and lightened a new stock replacement. Makes a lot of noise at idle, sounds like a loud "swoooosh"!

i searched the forum and everyone said Pacesetter was the best, and that OBX snapped and SMC was a modified Pacesetter basically.
I'm torn between the Flywheel and lightening my stock one, but i think i'm just gunna pony up the dough and bite the bullet. And if i don't like it i'll pay the shop to take it back out and sell it on the org
lol

I have the pacesetter and love it. I had to bang the cat heat shield once or twice with a mallet to make it clear the shifter at the lowest setting but not a big deal at all
install isn't too bad, just dirty
I wasn't able to get the catalytic convertor off (which would have made install a lot easier), so I just removed teh bolts holding the rubber hangers and got a few more inches to work with and that was enough.

good luck

... I may stick with my B&M, even though they won't cover it if it breaks or screws something up cause it wasn't made to be for the Maxima.
The only complaint with it I have is that sometimes if I'm at a light and it turns green and I'm spacin off and someone honks at me, I have trouble getting it into 1st. I have to let off the clutch, push it back in to the floor, and then put it into 1st. Annoying, but me shifts are quicker, once I get going!
As far as the flywheel, I would go ahead and get teh upgrade if you ever plan on puttin serious power to the ground.

hey craig
where do you have your ball set at? the highest point for quicker throws or the lowest point for longer throws? Is all the way up a little to quick of a throw or what?

Couldn't the heat from the exhuast melt the bushing(s) with the heat shield removed??
I don't know either way, but it seems like it might. I know that heat shield has to serve some kind of purpose.

shortest throws so ball is at the top of the threads
I had to bang the heat sheild twice with a mallet like I mentioned but it is still on and fits fine

I really like the feel of it now. Not too quick or anything like that

that's more a symptom of your tranny, not the shifter. Mine was horrible before I had the tranny rebuilt. It's much better now, but still does it pretty bad in reverse. no biggie. just slip it into 2nd, then back into reverse. works like a charm.

The Pacesetter STS is supposed to be just about the best and the cheapest by far. I think Pacesetter gets its bad reputation from the exhaust systems they make. I don't see anything wrong with them, but I suppose they just aren't tuned to everyone's ear,
