Hood release question
Hood release question
Hi all. I received an email from a member regarding his 3rd gen, but I have little experience working on third gens. Could someone please help a fellow member out?
Thanks in advance.
Thanks in advance.
I’ve got a 3rd Gen, 1990 Maxima. I have taken out my hood release lever that was torn apart. I am installing a new one now. I was curious how exactly it was supposed to be installed. I have tried installing the cable from inside my car through the firewall and pushing in many different angles. It just doesn’t seem to work. If there were any easier ways to install my Hood Release Lever, I would appreciate some additional insight. Thank you
it's going to take a lot more work than that!
he'll have to pull the left side fender liner off inside the wheel well. after that, he'll see where the cable goes through the firewall and next to the wiring harness up to the front of the car..
then just trace it through there around to the front of the hood and you're close to being done.

addendum..
look at pics 2,3,4 on this page..

in #2, you can see the cable just above the wiring harness.
#3, the hood release cable is the small one zip tied into the mess.
#4 is jsut a mess, maybe you can trace it though. I didn't feel like trying to figure out where it was, but it's in that mess somewhere.
