definitive se cluster swap answer
definitive se cluster swap answer
i recently purchased a '94 se cluster gauge from the junkyard and i'd like to install it in my 90 gxe. i've read all i can on maxima.org on this topic and all i can seem to find are opinions, and no real answers regarding the cluster swap. i've read that it's as easy as swapping out the clusters. but, i've also read that the speedometer reading will be slightly off. additionally, i've read something about having to buy a new speed sensor for 92-94 se for the speedometer to work right. anyone with a definitive answer? thanks for your help

your old cluster had a 125mph speedometer, and the 94 probably has a 145mph. so yeah, you will have to replace the speed sensor, otherwise youll get a reading as if you had the old cluster, only up to 125.
got mine installed
got the 94 se cluster gauges installed. i simply swapped out the gauges and kept the original dash housing for it. only kink i ran into was that the ground wire for the rpm gauge didn't have a place for it to be screwed in, so i simply hot glued it in. looks great, works like a charm. i would post pics, but i somehow managed to lose a camera during the process... if someone cares for information on how to do this, i'd be more than happy to help you out.
i'd rate this mod: pg-13, very easy, even i can do it.
