Window Switch

Anybody wear out their window switch? My driver's side is going, must be the contacts in it. I have to play with it a few times before the window will go up. Any idea what the part cost? I'm assuming it just plugs in real easy.....

I used to have this problem with an old Audi I had. I would take the switches apart to clean the contacts, then put them back together. I wish auto makers would use low-power switches and then just have a relay for the high-current switching.

i have a similar problem that just started happening. my driver-side window switches are all screwed up. i can work the front driver-side window fine. but as for the rest, i cant roll them down from the driver controls. i can roll them up though, which is weird. and the swiches on the other doors work fine. ive tried playing with the contacts, and that did nothing. so i dont know what is wrong.

Bad Circuit Board

Well I decided to take it all apart today. It's the driver's window that I'm having the problem with. It goes down fine but I have to push the switch a great number of times to get it to go back up.

I took the whole switch box apart. The other windows go up and down fine but you can hear some time of relay on the circuit board clicking when trying to raise the drivers window. Guess I'll have to go to and see if I can find one in the junk yard, though I haven't seen many Maxima's in the junk yard around here. Hopefully they'll have one. Anyone know what they cost new? Does anyone know if you have to buy the whole assembly or just the circuit board?

I have this SAME exact problem, only I have it with the windows going back up... Does anyone have any ideas on this?

Thanks,

haha. i have to reach over too. it looks really ghetto when someone comes up the the passenger side of the car, and you have to reach over to roll down the window. its like nonpower-power windows.

I wish there was something to clean, has to be a bad capacitor, resistor or something because I can hear the clicking only when using that button. The board has two white boxes and I definitely hear it coming from one of them.....

Not a regulator

My regulators have all been changed, quite familiar with those things. This is the switch. Works sporadically. When I had it all apart you could hear the clicking in the relay on the circuit board, and it only clicked when using the driver's window (the one having the problem), all the others had no noise and work fine......

Going New

Well, local Nissan dealer wanted $133 new, Nissan Courtesy wanted $93 plus $8.50 shipping.

After calling many junk yards, I finally found a place that had one at a cost of $75!

Looks like I'll be going new for $100.....

Have you tried replacing the relay?

It's soldered onto the board if that is the only problem. I'm "guessing" it's the one making the noise. I may play with it if I can find the time between work and school while I'm waiting for the replacement. And that's even if they sell something like it at Radio Shack. I normally drive an F250, this is the wife's car. The more I delay, the longer it is to get my truck back......

Hmm... if everyone thinks it's the relay on the switch circuit board.. then we just need to figure out a good replacement relay I've found a place on-line that sells basically EVERYTHING.

Pretty sure the web site is www.digitech.com

This same type of problem occurs on the RX-7's windshield wiper switch, only a new windshield wiper switch is like... $350 (so you REALLY save by resoldering)

Fixed

Got the window switch in today. Took me about 20 minutes to replace (took the door apart enough already so that made it quicker). Everything works fine now.

Ok, cool. Well if I end up keeping the car I'll order one.

Thanks,

Window Switch

I have the same problem. Intermittently driver's side window will not go down, but always goes up. I was surprised to learn that my car would not pass annual state inspection in Virginia due to this problem, so I had to bite the bullet and order a new power window/lock module for the door. It only comes as a one piece unit, switches, relays, circuit board, etc. I did manage to find a new unit at wholesale price of $87.30 plus shipping. You can get it from Brown & Brown Nissan at 1-800-237-0003.
