if you want that much power, you're going to have to:

1. beef up the tranny.
2. get bigger brakes. stock braks just won't cut it.
3. install nitrous.

Stupid Newbies. Do a search on "Mods" or "beginner mods", I would suggest a Front Strut Tower Brace, Popcharger or Cold Air Intake (CAI), and of course, the best hp/$ mod on a Maxima, the Y-pipe. The FSTB is probably the easiest first mod, and it works too (you can't really tell though unless you get on the Interstate). These will only get you about 10-15hp total. Do a search on each of these items to find brands and sites, etc. 40-60hp is a LOT from bolt-ons. Matt's right, NOS is the quickest way to get there, but you don't seem very experienced to jump right into NOS.
One more thing. Stay away from Stillen short-throw-shifters and Stillen engine upgrades. You can find cheaper and better quality than Stillen all over the web.

I did...

not criticize!!!
You'll learn. This is the 8th thread this WEEK we've had on this topic. Every time someone joins they ask the same questions:

Will a VQ35DE fit in a 3rd gen?
I'm going to TT my maxima, what do you guys think?
Will a VG30DETT fit in my Maxima?
What's the best mod?
What should I do to my car?

We are harsh, granted, but we do it so that we can try and restrain them from asking questions that are asked every other day. Yes we've all wondered the same questions, but don't forget, every thread and post takes up server space, which costs the site a lot of money. The quicker they learn to be self-sufficient, the better for the org. I generally tell them to search, give them a few basic tips (like I did here) and hope they understand the advice. Hey Matt, how 'bout a sticky on what NOT to ask in the first 3 weeks of membership?

Newbies .......... got to pay your dues

There is a ****load of Maxima experience on this site. With that being said, you will relaize after being here for a few days that Search is your friend and older members on this site get tired of seeing the same stupid questions. With stupid=redundant here.
All of us arrived here thinking we were something special or drove something special(we do) but, had to get our wings clipped, shut up, read and learn.

This site has already saved me hundreds of dollars in self-repair and cost me hundreds in mods=====> broke even.

Respect the "Old Heads" and they will school you in the ways of Modding the Max.

I definetly respect the "old heads"

They have helped me a bunch in questions that i have asked and they always answer my questions respectfully without sarcasm even if the question is a "stupid" one, but comments like "stupid newbies" is uncalled for and inappropriate!! I'm not tryin to start anything I just feel immature statements need to be left behind in the 3rd grade!

When the new members sign on they should be introduced to the search function. they should sign a waver say they know about the search function.

thats my two cents.
