I just want to know how much $$ I'll be spending if replace my underdrive pulley. i know that it is connected to alot of stuff and I can't change it myself, and I wanted to know if anyone can tell me how much I'll be looking at. Another question is hes anyone ever used that Zmax stuff they advertise on TV. And the last question is how wide is the stock exhaust piping ona stock 93 gxe.

MY Exhaust (Muffler/Piping)

clueless there....

I have tried the Z-Max and (IMHO) I think that you don't notice a difference at all except for the transmission formula. It did smooth the shifts on my 92GXE (auto)but everything else in the kit didn't do ****. again, IMHO.

The (1990 SE 5spd) has a 2.0" piping from the cat-back. It's probably the same for all other max's. I had the piping on mine torn off and custom built 2.5" with a stainless DYNOMAX muffler and a 4" tip (the tip I think is TOO big) a 3" would have been fine. (what was I thinking?)

See what I mean? The tip's TOO BIG!

Re: MY Exhaust (Muffler/Piping)

Oh yeah....the UR pulley was a pain in the *** t oinstall. I gave up on it, put the belts back on, and took it to my local import shop. They put it on for about $100 labor.

That muffler is TIGHT where did you get it from?? I like the way it looks , I have a thermal exhaust and the mechanic put the tip on crooked (down and to the right a little) but I can feel and hear the difference from the stock unit.

A place here in Omaha (might be a national chain, kinda like midas [i think]) called "Tuffy". They charged me $195 for the muffler and $50 to put it on. Earler I had them put on the 2.5" piping for $100 when I had my GReddy muffler. I got rid of the GReddy because it was WAAAAY too loud for what I was expecting (and I got a "noise pollution" ticket for $50). So I took it off, sold it on E-Bay for $495 used, and got this one put on. DYNOMAX Stainless. They have a Universal stainless one that looks even better and costs the same, but the tip can't be changed. for that one it's 2.0 in. dia. coming in 3" and going out. Do you think that the tip on my max is too big? It seems a lot bigger than the GReddy tip. I think I have a PICT of the GReddy one on my car, I'll look around.

Well @ $69/hr

and about 2 hours to do it you can figure $140, more or less depending on what the shop rate is.
the $69 is what my Nissan Dealer charges, and most shops in the area are within 10 bucks of that.

I had the UDP on my car. If you were to rent a gear puller you can remove the pulley in like 1-2 hours tops. I could replace my stock pulley wiht the UDP in like an hour. If your car is an auto you have to take off the starter so you can hold the flywheel with a screwdriver. Also you will need a torque wrench too.

it's not to bad.
just take off the passeger side front tire. Pull off the covers. Loosen up the Tensioner Pulley and Alt and all the others to get the belt off. (would recommend getting a Chilton's Manual to read what pulleys to loosen) and make sure you on the tensioner pulley you turn the RIGHT WAY!! F***ing Chilton's tells you to turn it the WRONG WAY!!. So be carefull of that. Once you get all the belts off. Get a 27mm BIG socket (i think it's 27mm) and take off the Bolt, you will need a BIG cheater bar. We spanned many extensions and what not trying to do this. We didn't use a Crank Puller though. WE LIGHTLY tapped it loose. then put alot of muscle and yanked it off. And be careful their is a KEY that you will need that sits on the end of the Crank shaft. DON'T LOOSE IT!. and walla. (i may have forgotten some stuff, we did this to replace the water pump and it was a pain because weather and i really don't remember to much other that that)

Good Luck. and if you decide to have it done by some1 else. Good Luck and your lookin at around 150 bucks labor.

I didn't think that your tip was too big I think it looks fine you said that you sold the greddy for $495 how much did it cost new? Thanx for all the labor information you guys I really prefer to do my own work, and one last question is why do some people want me to make my sig smaller???? (if it's really a problem I'll do it but I figured I'd just ask)

because...look at our pictures (the dimensions of them, not the file size) they are a lot smaller.. For the people that have modems, it takes a while for them to load everyone's sig, so they just want you to make it a little smaller.

The GReddy was $560 new plus $25 for shipping and $50 to install it. So I set a reserve price at $500, but it didn't get that high, so the highest bidder ($495) I gave it to since I wasn't gonna argue about $5 lousy bucks. I charged him $25 for shipping which just about covered it (the guy was in California).

And Millenium Max, read my some of my other posts, I didn't just switch the pulley's out, I added a second battery that I use whenever I have the Subs are in, which is only some of the time.

New question

I fixed the sig problem...... but yesterday something horrible happened I had to get to class and I was tired and I had to check the mail and I was backing away from the mailbox and when I put my auto in reverse, while hitting the brake to switch gears my boot accidentally hit the gas in mid shift and the car went nuts. I tested the tranny and put the car in reverse then drive a couple of times and the gears still work, but I'm still kind of scared what else should I do
