Anyone clean their MAF?

I pulled mine off and couldn't get the screen off to wipe it with a q-tip. Also what did you use? Alcohol or Throttle Body cleaner?
The screens had some black residue on them that i got off with a just a q-tip the filaments look pretty clean though.

Also, there was a little puddle of oil sitting in the tube just behind the maf when i pulled it off, just in a little puddle. Bad?

Thanks

Badaxxima did it. Ask him. Or, do a SEARCH adn you'll find a couple of recent threads on the topic, I'm sure of it. Good luck, and be careful. That's an expensive part you're toyin with...

I sprayed Carb Cleaner on a Q-tip and wiped it down, use either electrical contact cleaner or Alcohol (like Matt said). I pryed the screen out with a screwdriver and thought I had damaged it so I left it out. It was actually okay but I haven't had it in there in awhile. Seemed to make a miniscule difference in throttle response, but no ill side effects yet. I had the same black residue on my MAF screen, no oil though.

how do you tell if you have a K&N drop-in?
cause the filter smells oiled and the oil behind the maf is kinda reddish in color. and the screens on the maf if i smelled them they smelled oiled.

when i took my intake all apart i couldnt even get the MAF off of the black plastic tubing that connects to the intake manifold. it could be twisted around, but i couldnt pop it off. does it need to be lined up somehow to be taken off?? my screen was pretty dirty too. i just sprayed some throttle body cleaner on a towel and wiped it off. is ther any way to get that screen off without damaging it or the MAF? that sceening is pretty fragile.
