it's probably because you turned them up too loud and clipped your amp.. that's about the only way you can fry a sub. they'll handle clean power well past their rated power ratings.
as for how much to fix, it depends on if it's warrantied or not. if they're under warranty, you get lucky and get another set for free. if they're out of warranty, you might as well just buy new ones.
let it be a learning experience... find out the limits of your system and don't go past them.
(you obviously went past ONE limit to blow your subs in the first place)

what kind of subs are they? because all really good subs have warrantys on them. like a blew my orion XTR pro and if you have the recipts then all you have to do is send thim off to the factory and they will ether fix it or send yu a new one. it just depends on what kind it is. if you got it from a shop then go talk to them thats wat i would do
