I NEED to replace the factory? Clarion speakers in my car. I am starting with the ones in the rear deck since a friend gave me a pair of Eclipse 6x9's which should fit, according to Crutchfield and everywhere else I've looked for reference. I go throught the trouble of disasembling my rear deck to discover that the speakers are ROUND! In fact, they are 5-1/4" in. in diameter with opposing screws 6" apart. the metal bracket on which the speaker sits is also 6" across. What size speaker do I need in order to make this a perfect fit? Also, were the some GXE's made with this configuration, and Nissan didn't tell anyone about it? Anyone know what I might find in the doors? And, BTW my system is a Non-Bose. Thanx.

The cars during that year which had the bose system came with two brackets in the rear deck that were the shape for 6x9's go to a junk yard near and you should be able to get the bose brackets cheap

Next time just stick your head inside your trunk and look up. You should be able to see the speakers from there.

Well, after I did that when I got the car, I had a professional installer look in the trunk, and he also said that it looked like 6x9's. I hope you weren't aiming to be a smart *** and just landed on dumb ***.

You have 6 1/2 in the back. You might have 6 1/2 in thw front as well, but they might be 4x6, in which case you can custom mount 6 1/2 in the front aswell. Thats what I did, with seperate tweeters up front and back. I really like it.

Got any pics of your up front mounting. I was thinking of doing a component set up front w/ the tweet flush mounted on the stock door grille, aimed inward in the cabin.

Mine are mounted next to the grills. They are angle slightly, for a brighter sound. Sorry I don't have any pics yet.

The bose are 6x9 bottom mounted. they have lika a stiff foam rubber spacer between the speaker frame and the rear deck. if you could finda suitable material it wouldn't be that hard to rig it up to fit the 6x9s in.

i have my tweets mounted in a custom pod on the inside of the mirrors. 6.5 drivers in a custon pod in the old bose holes. in the rear 6.5s
