I know this questions bee on here before, how do you raise your idle? How good does it do to do that?

I have searched and searched....

but I have yet to find a decent write up...or if one at all...on how
to adjust timing (vg30e) or how to reset ECU.

I've read a lot of explanations of why but now HOW !

If you know where to find out the "how tos"....lemme know!

It is easy all you do is make sure the engine is at normal operating temp, then unplug the TPS (throttle position sensor), now you can reset the base idle. 5spds should be between 600-700rpm while autos are 600-800rpm I believe.

just did a little tune up on the good ole max...

Oooohkay....

I just finished installing a new fuel filter, cleaning out my entire throttle body and cleaning/fixing my PCV Valve and the rubber hose to which it connects... apparently it cracked..the rubber hose...and when trying to take it off the PCV Valve...I think I tore it a little more...I just taped it up with foil tape.... should there be any
problems with this?

(pics of this will soon be @ www.exclusiveatlanta.com/maxima )

This makes me a feel a lot more comfortable with doing more things under the hoood...

Unplug TPS...that sounds easy enough...I just have to locate it now

How do you actually adjust the idle ? where is the bolt to loosen
or tighten..and whats the exact procedure ?

thanks

The throttle position sensor is located on the throttle body, one side of it has 2 cables that run to it. The other side has the sensor and a small metal clip. To adjust the base idle after unplugging the TPS just turn the screw on the AAC. If I had pics I could show ya, but I don't

Is there a reason you want to increase your idle? If its ideling ruff and low then there is something causing it to do that and your only putting a "band-aid" on it by adjusting the idle....

Why, may I ask, do you need to adjust your idle? If it's not idling properly than you have something wrong. Adjusting your idle isn't something that just needs to be done every so often, you know what I'm sayin? You really don't want your car to idle higher than it does from the factory, at least I can't think of any reason why...

Didn't you have some kind of rough idle problem a while back? If you have a problem I'd try and fix it rather than counter-act it's effect. Did you check all the ignition components??....

I agree with you both...if the idle is messed up..there are other issues ..but, the idle was adjusted by the dealer on my car before
and I just wanted to know if it was something I would be able to do....incase I ever did need to do it for some reason.

The problem I have is... rough idle.

At a stop light or in Park...the idle goes up and down from 700 down to 400 - once in a while I will stall.

I have replaced spark plugs, fuel filter...Now, after reading some
posts, I think it may be not firing on one cylinder or one of the fuel
injectors might be clogged....

anyone know what the procedure is for checking the spark on the
cylinders and checking which fuel injector might be bad?

thanks

It can be so many things not to mention a complete hassle to figure out

Whens the last time you had your throttle body cleaned?

Have you checked your injector ends (the little connection part) for corrosion ? The manifold has to be taken off to reach the last one.... might as well clean that out while your at it....

Get a stethascope, stick a cut down piece of a coat hanger in the end of it, and put it on each injector, listening at it's 'tick'. If one is ticking off time or not at all then it's bad. That is kinda a backwoods way of checkin but it's always worked for me...
