Looking at upgrading fuel system?
Looking at upgrading fuel system?
I want to make my car turbo
, yea right prolly in a year or two. But anyway i want to slowly upgrade around the engine to get there. Im looking at getting 3z injectors and fuel pump and aftermarket fpr and a gauge. Any idea of price for these items? Is it ok to buy them used? Will it help me at all with my bolt ons for now? Thanks

Re: Looking at upgrading fuel system?
from what I've read and been told increasing FP for gains on our cars is rather minimal(go search on Se-r.net, there a good review using the Stillen RRFPR). 300zx injectors will need an upgraded ECU to function properly, Walbro makes an aftermarket 255 or 290 fuel pump and a Vortech FMU is suggested for boost applications...

Try doing a little research on your own.
good resources are ebay, junkyards, and the SEARCH FUNCTION.
(FYi, there's quite a bit of this stuff for sale on max.org if you know how to look for it).
you don't want to touch the fuel system until you've actually got something to need all that extra fuel. if you plug in big injectors on the stock ECU, you're going to run REALLY REALLY rich.. so much that the ecu can't understand why it's running so rich and go ingo failsafe mode.

hey, if you want, you can get stock Z32 turbos for 400 a pair. that's where i got mine. www.twinturbo.net

Re: Even with an Intake?
Not necessary. Here is how it goes.
ie.. JWT.
1) You can get a performance ecu from them that advances your igition maps and alters your fuel curve w/o getting injectors.
2) BUT! If you get higher flow rate injectors, you MUST get the ecu reprogramed to account for the different flow injectors. No "what ifs" or "buts" about it. No way around it period.
But you have to understand that what JWT does to the ecu for 1) and 2) is different. 1) and 2)'s ecu programs are completely different.

I was thinking that I would get the bigger injectors, add it to my list of mods that I give JWT, and then put everything on when I get the ECU.
Or does it make a difference?
Re: So...
2) Gives the engine the CAPABILITY to outperform 1) IF YOU HAVE FORCED INDUCTION or NOS. If you don't 2) will quite possibly underform 1).
I see what you are getting at. Unfortunately you cannot just add these types of mods in any haphazard way. You are lacking in some very basic engine modification understanding and I urge you to jump on some sites that have good technical information on the subject. If you haven't read Matt's reply, do it now.
