Hey i just purchased a 92 SE 5spd and i have NEVER driven a stick before..anyway, here's my problem..i push the clutch, move it from neutral to 1st..(all this time my right foot is on brake) i let go of the clutch and the engine turns off?!?!??? ok..my question is..is this suppost to happen???? please help~!!

 

Are you seriously asking us to teach you how to drive a stick?

The reason the car shuts off is because you are holding the brake while trying to go forward. Before you release the clutch, move your right foot from brake pedal to gas pedal and ease into the gas while you are easing the clutch out. Finesse is the name of the game. Please do NOT do this while there is ANYTHING in front of you within about 50 ft. Chances are you will pop the clutch, chirp the tires, and stall it. Not very attractive.

Get somebody to teach you how to drive a stick. I mean c'mon!

Perhaps next we can do a write-up of how to drive a stick! I mean we do have one on how to change the oil right?!

 

Did you release the hydraulic clutch bearing brake? That's why is stalling.

 

DON'T LEARN HOW TO DRIVE STICK ONLINE!!! ok, my friend learned card trick (very cool), aggressive skating, and break dancing online, he even learned how to use the internet online, but some things were just left to be taught in person...get someone to teach you...maybe we should just jump right into powershifting...wasn't that david h's secret sauce
