Mirror installation/purchase

Does anyone have a link with a how-to guide on installing replacement heated mirrors on a '93 Maxima GXE?

On a related note, are the mirrors on the SE the same as on the GXE in this model year? The parts guy at my local dealer said he THINKS so, but didn't give me a straight answer.

Re: Mirror installation/purchase

I would think the mirror is held on with a few screws or bolts and a harness for the power....just undo the small panel on the inside of the door and take a look at it...i would go try it now but im kinda sick

GXE/SE mirrors are the same except SE are black plastic while the GXE are painted body color

the mirrors are different for 89/90 vs 91-94

take off door panel (check the howto on my page for window regulators)
take off plastic triangle on back of mirror inside car (pops off with a small flathead screwdriver)
you will see a couple screws then (3 or 4) take those off and you should be able to remove the plastic mirror trim piece and then see the 3 screws that hold the mirror to the door
unplug the 2 harnesses on the door (one is white and the other blue, with 2 and 3 wires I think), just follow the wiring down to the middle of the door and you'll see it. To unplug them, you will have to push a small tab on teh harness while pulling on it
then remove the 3 screws holding the mirror on

that's it, install is the reverse and pretty easy

took me about 15 minutes when I did mine after I had a little trouble with my mirror
the pass side mirror on my car all of the sudden exploded into pieces (or maybe it was that I backed into something, I can't remember which)

email me if you have any problems

i work with autoglass and we deal with sideviews sometimes,i did a heated mirror on a GMC envoy and theres basicly a piece of tape with heat lines going through it,i peeled it off of the old mirror and attached it to the new mirror(i get the replacements for $10 if i need em)and attached it with silicon caulk, customer never complained of it not working but he only paid $40 for a new mirror and as far as i know the heat devise still worked
