clutch explosion!!!!! bummer!
ok so my master cylinder was leaking so i slapped a new one on today! BAM, car drove great! so i have an OE clutch kit in the car. well, we're cruising along and i'm shifting, and i push the clutch in and everything just binds up!!!!! there's grinding, things happening, i can't change gears or engage teh clutch! all kids of stuff, so i get it to a parking lot and stop about 15 feet away. i'm trying to push the clutch in and it just pops the slave cylinder!!!! grrrrrr, so jason and i grab the tilt bed and tow it to our shop. we pulled the tranny and listen to this. the throw out bearing BENT! the wings where the fork goes, so the fork came down on the pressure plate and destroyed the fins! well. . . . just nastied em up alot! grrrrrrrrrr so monday i'm ordering a lightened flywheel, and a nice clutch. looks like my shocks and maybe rims are gonna have to wait i'll prolly still be able to do rims considering i already mounted my track tires on my stock 15's!!!!!!!! anyway, any advice on a clutch? i was gonna do a centerforce dual friction with the UR/AASCO flywheel. any ideas? if you have a suggestion on clutch could you include price and include which clutch exactly, not just the brand. jason is checking on the wholesale on monday. thanks guys!

Get the ACT modified Street disc and Heavy Duty pressure plate.
I got the AASCO Flywheel, STS, and ACT put on about 2 weeks ago and love it. You won't be disappointed at all. Clutch feels stock and grabs like a maniac.
ooh and www.nipponpower.com has the clutch i got for 352. Phoung sells for 343 and has a hard time keeping them in stock. Nippon went extrememly smooth and i would buy from them again. Also PJ and Maxximum Tuning will hook you up with the flywheel for 445 instead of 560 from UR.
if you need his phone # or anything let me know.

I juat had the exact same thing happen to me 2 weeks ago. I just ordered the ACT clucth for it. I want to put a new flywheel while I'm in there but I dont have time to wait for me to get the cash. It will suck to have to go back in there after the fact though

Don't waste your time with the Centerforce.. for the way you drive, it'll last six months, tops.
I've put almost 20k on my ACT now and I beat on it daily.. I can still chirp 3rd.
BTW... SE-R V-SPEC are sllllooooooww.

The 4 and 6 puck discs are simply too harsh for street use and completely unneeded unless you're running a sub-13 second car. they'll cause everything else in your drivetrain to self-destruct because of the harshness of them.

see the ACT clutch section on that page for confirmation of that statement.

Dude get the heavy duty pressure plate, the only one they have for the Maxima. With modified street disc. Rated at 362 torque. The part number for the kit is NM1-HDMM. Brian at Courtesy will get you a good price, try him and ask him to beat the prices you've seen already. That should answer all questions you have. If you have more questions, you should contact an ACT representative at http://www.advancedclutch.com/
