Need part number for exhaust manifold studs...

Got one broken on the front side, so I'm gonna replace them all before a rear one goes. Did a search here for the turbo Z stud part number, but didn't find it. E-mailed Courtesy, but the guy asks me "is it the z31 stud or z32?" I don't have the faintest idea, so could someone who has done the swap please enlighten me? Thanks very much!

The ones for the VG Maxima have been upgraded in their computer, and will come up with the correct part #. since you've got a VE, they'll still come up on the regular VE studs though.

as for the actual part #s (the gaskets are for a Vg, don't use that #), here's some pics for you.

To replace each side, you'll need 6 studs, nuts, and washers. the front manifold on the VE has two washers on each hole.. one called the "yoke washer" or something, then the other called the "bend washer". one will be about 1/4" thick, the other will be regular washer thickness.

the rears will only use the thick washers.

and YES, you do need to replace all of the nuts and washers when you do the studs. the washers are cupped (which is why it's called a "bend washer") to keep the manifold pressed into place even with high temperature changes.
the old washers are fatigued and worn out and may not do the job correctly anymore. so for a few more $, replace them all and you won't have to worry about it again.

just an FYI too.. the Z studs are shorter than the stock VE studs.. so don't be surprised when you get them.

I used my old ones. No problems here for 60k. But to be safe use the new ones.

Matt. As you might already know(or will know very shortly), those shorter manifold studs are a godsend.

Yeah, I remember you telling me about that. I'm going to call them in a few minutes and yell at them to hurry up.. I'm running out of time before the wedding chores start picking up, so I won't be able to play with it...
Plus I know you're ready for everything to be finished.. they've only had those parts for about 3.5 months or so now.

Thanks a lot, Matt. In you photos, I see the part numbers for the stud, nut, and bend washer, but not the thick washer. Do you have that number, or is that part not used on the VG? Are the nuts and washers all standard VE parts (ie, can I just order the ones listed for my engine along with the upgraded studs)? Just out of curiosity, do you know why the washer arrangement would be different from the front side to the rear?

Thanks again for your help.
