UDP harmful???
i know i have been pretty negative with mods lately but....
the stock crankshaft pulley has a harmonic balancer which prevents the crankshaft from cracking or oil pump from breaking at certain rpms/frequencies.
where are the harmonic balancer on the udps???
although the only known incidences of this happening are on honduhs and mazdas.... it's somthing that could/should be looked into.
has anybody noticed any extra vibrations while slamming on the pedal (especially with an asp udp)?

do a search on the subject. it's been mentioned several times before.
the OEM pulley has rubber in it to save weight, not to reduce vibrations.. There's not enough rubber in it to do that.. but it saves a couple pounds over making the entire thing out of solid steel.
and for the record, I have yet to see any maxima engine, VG, VE, or VQ have a problem with an aftermarket pulley.

I believe my car is the only one that had a problem with the UDP. I know now why it had a problem though. My car was made after 4/87 which was when nissan switched to a different crankshaft in the VG30E's. The shorter snout is was caused the gap between the pulley and crankpulley bolt. The gap was only like 1/8 or 4mm, but techincally speaking the 2nd gen UR pulley does fit the 85-87 maximas made before 4/87 (mine was made 5/87). Other than my misforune no one else had a problem whatsoever .
EDIT: My problem was not dampner related as Kaleb pointed out (Good looking out Kaleb). Mine was a fitment issue, as long as there is no space between the UDP and pulley washer there will be no problem.

And your misfortune was completely unrelated to dampening issues, so please try not to confuse the newbies.
Also, I had a complete set of engine internals balanced to 0.25 grams with the UR UDP and there was no significant balancing problem w/ the crankshaft. Because it's internally balanced and all that good stuff.
