carbon cleaning machine?????

Hello,

I went to my mechanic the other day and he recommended to use this carbon cleaning machine on my engine. My mechanic is a good friend of my father and wouldn't offer me anything my car didn't need. I don't think my car needs it, I have 78,000 miles. So I asked him to explain what this carbon cleaning machine did and he told he told me that he disconnects the fuel line(s) and connects the fuel lines coming from this machine. The machine is equipped with it's own gas and it requires at least 40 minutes to run on the car. He said in essential it has a type of detergent and that it would do away with all the carbon deposits. I consulted this with my brother who has a 1990 RX-7 non-turbo and he told me that on the RX-7 Forum they recommend doing this process. My mechanic told me it cost $65.00. He also recommended cleaning the fuel injectors. I just wanted to know if anyone ever did this? Would anyone recommend doing this? Is there anything that could happen during this process that can hurt my car?

Thanks,
D-sta
