fstb
fstb
I got a fstb from stealthmax for my 89 maxima and now i was wondering on how i should install it. I have search the org and found bits and pieces on how to install but not something concrete. can someone help me with this. i would really like it if you could tell me every little detail as to what wrench to use and stuff. thanks.
Its really easy. Just 3 nuts on each side of the strut tower. Unscrew them, place fstb on, slightly tighten nuts on, tighten the bar, so its not lose, then finish tightening the nuts down. I think thats right, well its what i did last week and it hasnt fell off

First, GET A TORQUE WRENCH (even the el-cheapo beam type).
The nuts are all that's holding the struts in the car - too tight and they can pop off (has happened!) too loose and they can back off... then pop off!
Park the car on level ground (equal load/stress on front wheels), pop open hood, remove 3 nuts from each strut tower, separate one of the brackets from the bar (you'll need to adjust the length later), place FSTB brackets over bolts and tighten the nuts to 35 ft-lbs of torque. You then need to adjust the length of the bar by playing with the bolts that thread into the ends of the bar. You have it tight enough when you squeeze the bolts through the eyes at both ends and the bar is nice and tight from left to right. Not so tight that it's spreading the strut towers apart, but tight enough that it doesn't wiggle much at all. Tighten all the end nuts/bolts on and take it out for a spin!
About 15 to 30 minutes depending how meticulous you are about it

then the holes should line up with the nuts on the strut towers pretty well. Just adjust it as needed until it slips on there.
