Clutch Question
Hey, this Max is my first non auto car, and I just had my clutch go out...I recently bought the car and wanna start doing Mods so i figure why not start with a performance clutch....Does aPerformance clutch, when compared to an OE, lose life faster? Meaning under normal wear and tear will I need to replace it again sooner than I would if I just went stock?
thanks

it should theoretically last longer than stock, as it's a tougher clutch than the factory one. FYI, the friction discs are almost identical on the ACT clitch.. they're both made by Unisia or however it's spelled. looked identical. but it's the pressure plate that's the difference on the ACT clutch.
But my main point is if you replace the clutch now, the clutch will probably outlast the rest of the car. my factory clutch had 155k miles on it before it needed replaced, and that's only because I overfilled the tranny with fluid and it leaked fluid on it and ruined it.
So put another clutch in and it'll last another 100k miles... which will be longer than 99% of the people on this board will keep their Maxes.
