gauge swap question

I have just swaped a se gauge into my gxe. However the two gauges has a different amount of milage, almost a 40k difference. So can i get away with it by not changing it and tell people who service my car that there is a 40k difference. And if i want to make the milage difference legal, what do i have to do and how much will it cost?

depends what state you're in. you'll have to file it w/ the DMV or something. not sure if you can hand roll it to the correct mileage or not.

FYI:
swapped - To trade one thing for another
swamped - To drench in or cover with or as if with water.

you should be able to pretty easily swap the odometers and have the correct mileage shown

it is illegal otherwise. I'm not going to turn you in but they take records at emissions test, registration, etc and if there are inconsistencies, carfax or similar checks will usually uncover them

also, welcome to the board, use the search feature, it can be very helpful for questions like this
