brake, battery, and intake runner problem

Facts:
*right handed slight downhill cloverleaf onramp
*2nd gear, 3000rpm
*when onramp straigtened out, I brought the rpms to 4500 and saw brake and battery lamps light up simultaneously...also, felt the car "hold back" a little
*Shift to 3rd, lights are on. Reach 4k but no change in intake runners, but brake and battery lights turn off
*Shift to 4th, lights are on.
*this morn, started the car up and no lights, dunno about intake runner cuz I never shift that high when the car's not warmed up. however, after warmed up, the lights are back on (and off when I'm above 4k)

symptoms: brake and battery lights on simultaneously...off simultaneously when above 4k. No change in intake runners. No problems when car is cold. Otherwise, car drives normally.

Any ideas?

Jae

edit: forgot to mention, it's a 1993 Max SE 5sp with 199k.

update: coming back from school, brake and battery lamp stayed on the whole time, even when I shifted at 4k. I didn't bring it over 4k. Intake runners are working now. I read the other threads about low brake fluid so I checked. Yeah, I'm low about .5cm from the max. I'm gonna top it off tonight.

I would bet your alternator is going out.

when the battery and brake light come on, that's usually because the alternator isn't charging.

go to a parts store and have them check out the charging system.

I topped off the brake fluid and still no good. I think the alternator was changed 3yrs ago (i think it was a rebuilt one). Only thing I can think of that would strain the elect would be the 2 12" subs and the amp that runs them. But I don't turn it up (I can't drive w/loud music).
There's a kragen down the road. I know I can bring in my battery for them to test. What else can Kragen do for me? Thanx!
