Dual Exhaust Max's!!
I was wondering along with me how many other 3rd generations max's have a dual exhaust set-up, i know mine arent a true dual coming off each side of the manifold but they look and sound great!! How many are out there??

i will have a pic on my sig of my dual exhaust. This weekend i am taking pictures of my car hopefully i will have my rims on this weekend. JoJo is doing my sig and hopefully he can do my web page. i can wait for all the haters to see things i got. You just think i lie about everything, you will see, i dont have much now but later i will, but one thing i do have is a dual exhaust set up, the pipes are Y-ed into 1 glass pak. It sounds great and looks really good too!1

Glasspacks on Maxima's = mad horespowahz, y0!

i feel the same way about automatics if he likes it, let him do it. i did mine in my opinion the "right way". all mandrel, big, and with 2 mufflers, but hey, whatever floats your boat. i don't have a resonator, so maybe his will sound better? i dunno. i'll get some WAV files this weekend of the exhaust for you guys.

some people just dont knwo
actually, dual exhaust would never slown down the max, since stock piping is 2.5". ("stock"), with alot of test and dyno runs , it is a proven fact that for engine with 2.8 - 3.5L exhaust measure of anywhere above 2.5" (2.6 - 3.5") would only increase hp, not decrease it. I cant find the site, but if i do ill type it in some day...maybe

Exhaust pipe diameter is totally a function of what RPM range you want the engine to run at (ie, make power at). Huge 3" piping would flow great at upper RPM, but exhaust gas velocity will suffer at lower RPM.
Bigger piping is often said to make power only because of dyno runs with free-breathing engines whose only goal is to make the highest peak numbers as possible. They don't tell you about what the power curve looks like at lower, more "everyday" RPM. (Sure it might be making 300 horsepower, but it had to spin to 7500 RPM to get it.)

one is a 90 gxe the other is a 93 SE
I know for a fact it is 2" I.D. because I put a muffler on myself.
I got a 2.25 muffler and it was way to big so I used a 2.25 O.D. pipe to use as an adapter...It slipped over the stock (2" I.D.) exhaust and into the 2.25 muffler.
Mine are both autos though...maybe the standards have 2.25"

what Bman said is 100% right. i have a 2.5" y pipe, to a 2.5" flex, to a 3" cat, to a 3" pipe, that runs to the end of the tunnel, then it splits into two 2.25" or 2.5" (i can't remember right now) pipes. to my mufflers. needless to say that's plenty of flow. i noticed mine pulls more noticeably at the top end with the silencers out, with the silencers in it has more bottom end. also, (i noticed this more when i put the flywheel in) it revs up faster with em in, and drops faster with em out. . . . .

since we're on the dual exhaust topic...how about last weekend i saw a guy with dual exhaust dual tip mufflers on a new pathfinder....the poor pathfinder looked like it had been molested!! I thought about doin the dual exhaust dual tips until i saw this...might look good on a caddy northstar, but i don't know about a max.........might give it a shot though with those new dragunfire mufflers i've seen!! They're pretty small and compact from what i could tell, but that means loud sounds.

I think "dual tip duals" would look good if the mufflers are hidden behind a rear valence and all you see are the tips slightly coming out from the valence....there is a guy on here with dual DTMs on his 4th gen, it didn't look too great, the tips stuck out way too far and it appeared to b hanging kinda low...but ah well...

If anyone has any doubts about dual duals, check out Sidney's website http://maxima.cardomain.com/id/sxwk12 That has to be one of the single best-looking exhausts I've ever seen on a Maxima. Its one of the reasons I'm getting the WW kit, eventually.

Maximum3rdgen, Sidney told me that the guy who he had do it just welded the muffler tip on the underbody!!! When my friend heard that, he cracked up over it. I hope to have duals like that one day.
