hmmmmmm.....maybe next time you should let it warm up and then videotape it, cause that sounded mighty "Honda-ish" to me.......

Didn't sound THAT ricey! You can't quite hear the growl until you turn the sound up a lot. Though, Flyry, I think you should go with dual Borla Turbos! I'm serious. I bet it would sound insane with 2 of those. BTW, how do you guys think it will sound if I just leave my resonator on and cut off my stock muffler for a temporary amount of time? I hope to god it wouldn't sound ricey but I wanted to be sure. I'm getting a Borla turbo and thought I'd chop my muffler off and drive around a few hours or 1 day just to see how it sounds.

Sounds pretty dopey...

You get that icky farting sound right around the shiftpoint (I cant really explain it)...

Anyone who's cut off their stock muffler (or anyone who's just got a straight thru universal muffler for that matter) knows exactly what I'm talking about. Except many of them are probably in rice denial.

Oops. I just realized I had the bass and Super bass turned ALL the way up! I put it back to normal and I have to say, Flyry, you'd be better off with Borlas.

James92se, how do you think it would sound with removing just the resonator and putting a Borla turbo on? I remember hearing that all the resonator does is quiet the sound and won't actually change the sound. So, if I remove it, it should sound the same yet louder...I guess. I better search some more. I just don't like how my VG sounds so badass yet, I am hearing the engine and from the outside you can't hear it too well unless its perfectly quiet. Though, when I put the pedal to the floor, I've turned many heads so I know its not too insanely quiet under WOT.

well thats how duals on a Max sound....I've heard another setup on a 4th gen 2 years ago and it was exactly the same......almost like a "Honda on steroids"(it has a deep tone, but still that ricey Honda "buzz")! ah well.....

What type of mufflers were they using though? I wouldn't think a Maxima with dual Borla or Dynomax's would sound ricey. They must be using all those crap $80-$200 universal rice mufflers you can always get off ebay.

*sigh*, i really gotta do another mpg. in real life it sounds NOTHING like a honda! it's DEEP and the only rasp is when the rpm's drop. for some reason that vid makes it sound ricey. . . . .

Was that the 300ZX exhaust or a Honduh chainsaw? Wouldn't confuse the Max with a Honduh exhaust but i'm with Maximan190 when it comes to the stock exhaust. I like the "sleeper" factor i have.

Flyry, don't listen to anyone. It didn't really sound bad. Turning the sound and bass up, it really did sound pretty good and .mpg's aren't going to really sound 100% like it actually does.

2.5" y pipe, 3" high flow cat, 3" piping, to 2 2.5" pipes to the mufflers. .. . . i'm seriously gonna get a better mpg when the car is warmed up. i wish you guys could hear it in person. ask phil, sam, j, any of those guys. it sounds nothing like it does in the mpeg. . . . .

its about time...

you got some sounds of that! Ry they sound freaking awesome, dont listen to anyone that say they sound ricey!Your going to carlisle right? if so I would like to hear it up close in person! How much quiter are they with the silencers in? props to the dual exhaust setup it is sweet.

The only reason people will say it is ricey is probably because it doesnt sound like a mustang with flowmasters. That is just my opinion!

i agree. people are expecting it to sound like a v-8, which is not possible with our cars. i think it sounded nice, it'll probably sound even better once it's in drive, and not in park.

oh, and my friends dad has a porshe targa, and it doesn't sound that great for being an exotic car. the point is, every car sounds different, and we should all appreciate flyry for his ingenuity and hard work put into his car, especially for posting all the pics and mpegs.

I think hes a 5 speed. Right now, it sounds a lot like mine does. Except I'm not dual. You cant really capture the exact sound but I'm sure once is warmed up it sounds better.

no doubt I give him his props for doing it, but next time let it warm up before you videotape it, thats pretty simple, hopefully it won't have that "buzz" to it...
