i got my guy on the lookout for a Q45 at the junk yard. i searched and seriously, there were 10,000 TB cleaning posts, but NONE about this! oh, i was amazed how many of these were locked lol. anyway, anyone know the year? i asked before and it got WAY OT. I just need to know the years and BAM, i'll delete this thread. thanks.

the junkyards usually already have them pulled form the car.. find a place with more than one year on the shelf, and go there and physically look at them and measure them yourself.

nobody else has done this research. I followed some bad advice and bought a 240SX TB, and it was way smaller than ours.

Nopi doesn't have them, and no it will not just bolt on. Pretty sure TB is for Airflow. But I have no clue

TB is strickly for modulating or "throttling" (restricting)airflow. In fact our entire intake manifold is what you call "dry", meaing no fuel goes through it. I was under the impression that there is a good 240sx TB out there for us, but there are a number of engine variations in the 240's, But I know that the guys with 300zx's have had good results. According to them, if you get the right 240 TB, a minor opening of the intake man. port is required, as the 240 TB has large openings. I gotta look into this, cause it may be that as our manifolds ar different than the older vg manifolds, this might not apply to our VG's.

If you do some more searching on the 240 TB, you'll find they don't work on VG or VE.

I fell vitcim to a person saying they were bigger than the VE and bought one myself.. $50 wasted, as it was actually smaller than the VE TB and the bolt patterns were slightly different.

On our engines, the only thing you can do is port out the stock one and have new buterflies put in it.
as for prices to do that, get on the phone and call local performance machine shops in your area.

I just got some info from the z31.com forum..they seem to believe our TB and manifold collector are a better design anyway. We has two ports and favor our collector (upper manifold) design. So best bet, leave it alone..a bigger TB will truely only benefit high HP applications. Unless you have ported heads and intake manifold, cams etc, the TB is not the big restriction here, the manifold is.
