hi everybody i am new to the board I use to drive a honda that was fully loaded with all the perforamce stuff but was always getting my *** kicked by maximas that were stock. well as the saying goes if u cant beat them join them. I need some advice I am about to purchase a 93 nissan maxima se 5spd for 500 dolllars with a little body damage. My qustion is is that a good deal only 120k miles on the clock. Another question is my first mod will be the driving lights were do i go to get the bmw lights as well as how do i go about putting in the HIDs. my last question for now is will a 97 maxima bose radio fit into the dash were the exciting bose radio is located. all this info will help me make a decesion by friday because saturday i will buy it.

Well, first and foremost, WELCOME TO THE CLUB!!! Glad to have you aboard! Before I touch bases on your questions, here's my disclaimer for the day: people are gonna tell ya to use the "search" function before asking ANY questions... you'll likely find your answers there.

Now, on to your questions:

Q: My qustion is is that a good deal only 120k miles on the clock.
A: Depends on the general condition of the working components (i.e., engine, drivetrain). Get a good mechanic to give it the once over before you smack down the 'ends'. You'll thank yourself later.

Q: were do i go to get the bmw lights as well as how do i go about putting in the HIDs.
A: There are a number of resources for the lights. Chief among them are either Ebay, the "for sale" section here in the .org, or even at your local junk yard. As for putting them in (or the HID's for that matter), there are a couple of guys here (Brandon90gxe and ngthing, to name a couple) who have done this mod, who are more than willing to lend you their expertise on that subject. They've also got write-ups on just that.

Q: will a 97 maxima bose radio fit into the dash were the exciting bose radio is located.
A: I don't know from personal experience, but I think so. The brackets might be different, and you may have to so something cosmetic with the trim ring, but I don't think the plugs are different. But like I said, I really don't know. {you could always buy my Clarion and save you the hassle... }

I may or may not have helped, but I hope you enjoy the ride, and the car, should you decide to buy it.

Very nice.

Hope it doesn't have too much body damage and still is a great deal after you finish fixing it back up.

Very nice another VE on the board. Driving lights, you mean fog lights? you could probably get some aftermarkets although im not up on them because i like my stock fogs. BMW lights ask either dnas420, ngthing i know theyve done the BMW jobs. And the stereo ok...bottom line: if the Bose system is not working perfectly or near perfectly take it all out and replace with aftermarket stereo trust me i went through alot of hassle trying to diagnose my Bose system back in the fall/winter and i wound up getting a 6 speaker Pioneer system and deck and i couldnt have taken a better route with it.

make sure your car is in working order before you start to mod it. there is nothing cooler than a nice looking car on the side of the road.

as for the bose radio, save your money and put in an aftermarket stereo system.

The one you had with all of the "how-to" stuff on it?? I think it was for your business... I just didn't see it, is all.

The 4th gen double-din unit will bolt right in - no mods needed to mount. However, the plugs ARE different. You would either have to buy or make an adaptor cable. I made one for about $35 to mount a '95 Bose in a '93 SE, and it works perfectly. Make sure all the amps & speakers are good before you go that route, though; otherwise you're better off with aftermarket stuff.

what kind of

honda engine did you have? could you list all of your mods too? the reason i ask is that i am going to race this guy down the road from me and he has a civic. he "supposedly" dropped a "honda tech" engine in it, and i have never even heard of it. i wanna race for some $$ if i know i can beat him. but if i beat him the 1st time w/ no money, then he wouldnt be stupid enough to race me for $$. see what i'm saying? i was just wondering the mods you did to your engine cause i wanna see if i have a chance, which i think i do.

damn man which honda did u have? the dx? z16? that had an intake.? I know any B16 honda with exhaust and intake and headers can kick the crap out of any maxima, they run mid 14's. Even the stock D16 run about the same as stock maxima.
