So i made a poor man's cold air intake... Any ideas whether it will work or not since i can't test it since it's on my max that has no tranny right now?

hm looks like a good idea...i was playin around with my intake tubing yesterday i attached a piece of home depot flexible dryer hose vent piping that my friend was gonna use on his civic to the end of my airbox (i was REALLY bored and had an afternoon to kill) and layed it out to the front of the car and closed the hood down to it; so i go for a slow drive around the block for the hellovit and a gust of wind and up flies my hood...no harm done it was an empty side road so i pulled over and reassembled my stock tubing. that was just BSing around but i like your project, i plan to do some real work on mine over the summer. What kind of cone filter is that btw?

i've had nothing to do since i've not been able to find a tranny until now. but it will be here next week since i have to send money order before the guy ships it. i'm hoping my dad will loan me the money to get the vg30et engine i found so i can have something to do but it's not looking too good.

the filter was some auto zone brand. it was like 15 dollars or something. sounded pretty cool hooked to the stock intake.

The only thing i need to do now is put some self tapping screws in the battery tray to hold it down, get a longer tube for the rexerve/overflow antifreeze tank, and extend the maf wires.

HEY! I thought I had the cheapest CAI !!

With my 3" semi truck exhaust flex pipe! BTW, MAF is EASY to rewire! Just a request though, PLEASE at least paint the PVC tubing black or something!?

Cost

Wire was nothing, had it lying around. Flex pipe was like $12 or so (about $4 per foot)and the PVC connector from the pipe to the MAF at Home Depot was like $10 (which I thought was a rip off). So about $20 and time cutting the hole and saudering the wires and insulating them like they're supposed to be. Did a friends VE about the same way except we had to add an elbow.

what type of filter are you using and how much was it? my total cost i think would be about 15 w/o filter with the autozone cone filter i got it would be about 30 all together.

except at autozone. there is a air filter and an air cleaner the cleaner is HUGE. it would never fit down where i put mine considering mine was a tight fit already. hey Ginuwin3112, you really noticed that much change? if so, i would try what i did and do an all smooth tubing right straight to the metal intake. like, take off the flexing rubber thing, i think that would cause a little bit of turbulence, and keeb the pipe the same size instead of reducing it, unless it will do the same thing exhaust pipes do when they are too big.

Was it the one on the orange and yellow packaging and came in either chrome, blue. or red plating? I'm planning on getting it only if its suppose to use the K&N filtercharger oil? Do you happen to know if it supposed to be oiled or not? Thanks.

are you worried about the anti freeze thing being in the way? if so, all you do is unbbolt the battery plate you have to cut a piece off the plate then kind of put it in there diagonally then get a longer hose for the container and move it to the back of the battery.

Oh okay I understand what you mean. I'll have more room when I move the Popcharger out of the way.

do you guys realize that over time, PVC will out-gas chemicals that are harmful to the engine and atmosphere? (PVC= poly vinyl CHLORIDE).. burning chlorine in the engine is horribly hard on the engine itself, and the rest of the compounds in the PVC make nasty pollution in the atmosphere.. that ****'ll kill you if you breathe it.
