Tip For Those Of You With Tint

I have noticed a lot of people have been getting tickets for tint lately....... A little hint as soon as you pull over ROLL DOWN ALL FOUR WINDOWS (and if at night turn on your dome and map lights). The one main reason Police hate tint is because it is dangerous for them. If you eliminate that sense of danger you may just get on their good side. And if they ask if you where trying to "hide the tint" just reply:No sir/mam just trying to make you more comfortable comming up to the car. 99% of Cops would have to be big time *** holes to give you more than a warning after that.

dude, great idea, also another reason for me to get new regulators, mine are slow.
i bought the car with tint, its supposidly a California Special, its got chromed (stock 15") wheels and the tint is pretty dark but I dont know the number. also the door panels are leather (i dont know if thats normal or not, i think it is but some pictures suggest otherwise, although it could just be a seat replacement.)

anyway, I would have never thought of that, i just have to make sure i keep my rear clean, normally my backpack is in there or other stuff like books and currently stereo cable (incase you wanted to know).

hey good news, my dad decided to sell our 1990 toyota pickup 2wd 22re 5speed, about 76,000 miles. Im so glad cause I dont like it, i'd much rather drive the max. anyway, that may get me a few grand and I have to pursuade him to get another maxima, but maybe a 5 speed instead of an automatic. what other kinda cars do you guys think i should try to pursuade him of, its only about $3000 or maybe more i dont really know how much hes willing to go. just some ideas, what cars have good engines (i really like my VE30DE)

thanks
MrGone

it is easier to

go to you local or state police and ask them what the legal tint % is!! That is the best way not to get in trouble. and if you wanna go darker than legal limit you deserve any ticket you get it is as simple as that!!

cops dont have the easiest job in the world either so just obey the law and treat them with respect becaue they put their lives on the line everyday just remember that.

Agreed...I have 30% tint all around and on the rare occassion that I was pulled over at night I would turn on the interior lights and pop the sunroof also. The local constables have appreciated the gesture.

they sure do put their life on the line when it takes 5-10 of them to monitor HOV for people with less than 3 people in a car!!! Especially when there are unsolved murder cases of 3 teen girls where I live!!!! THATS WHAT I CALL RISKING YOUR LIFE too!!! Yeah right.

not too many cops, at least not around me, will give a ticket for tints, unless they have something else to nab you for on the same traffic stop. i have 5% on mine and ive gotten plenty of warnings, verbal and written, but no tickets yet (knock on wood). and while being a police officer is without a doubt a profession worthy of respect, there are way too many examples of cops who have nothing better to do than drive real fast on the highway and go after kids in customized cars for no reason. that sucks

another thing i do is keep my hands on the steering wheel as they walk up to the car. then ask for permission to get my wallet. that way if my wallet is in my back pocket, i'm not looking like i'm struggleing to get something. . . .

here's a good way to get around those pesky tint laws. If you can get the hookup from an optometrist, they can give you written permission to have "illegal" tint. Just take it to the DMV and they will give you a permit for less than legal tint. Pretty cool if you know the right people.

Tint...

What about those of you guys that have those 'colored' tints - you know the ones... I hear that those are the only kind of 'legal' tint that you can have on your front windows in CA. I'm looking to get a tint & alarm soon, and I don't want to have to deal with the po-pos any more than I have to.

BTW - When I owned my 'tricked-out' black Honda Accord, I had tinted windows all around and I used to cut the engine off and stick my hands out the window with my driver's license and keys in my hand when he walked up - never got a ticket, just delayed.

Hmm if I was the one pulling you over I would get the feeling you HAD to do that before. If you HAD To put your hands out of the window I would assume you had done some serious ****. The engine off is good. And the dome light thing is a law in RI

I live in NC and I went to ask what the legal limit was and they told me it was the cops discretion... That doesn't help me much. What is the norm for a limit in other states?
