(yeah yeah I'm sure these questions have been asked before), I'm ordering KYB's from Courtesy. My question is what comes with them/what do I need to order with them? I was told I should order the rubber boots that go around the strut, also my mechanic told me that the "pad" in the strut housing was shot (and that is why I am hearing/feeling it clunking) when I drive. Thanxs for any input as always

Are the KYB struts any stiffer than stock. I want a performance shock but I dont really want to pay $500 for the koni's. How are the KYB's compared to tokico? Thanks

92GXE, touring wing, 18” racing wheels, Port&Polished intake, custom intake, custom yellow interior, racing seats, back seats taken out and replaced with subs and amps, NOS kit, Suspension tech. Lowering springs, custom grille, soon to be custom painted and have the whole engine rebuilt for big shot NOS and custom SC and tranny converted to 5-speed.

as far as I know the KYB's are the Nissan Replacements. I was quoted $75 a piece (with the 25% off) at Courtesy. So I figure $150 +. I am just doing the fronts right now..that's really all I got money for. I would love to put lowering springs on my car as well, but I would want to do front & back & I think that would run me into to much money doing all 4 struts & springs

Sarah, I'd be willing to bet that if you would let a gentleman on this board take you out to dinner, he would probably change your struts for free.
(If I was in Cali and didn't have a GF, I certainly would.

I gotta make it past 22 before I can worry about my mid-life crisis!
besides, if the GF ever sees this forum, it'll suddenly make my mid-life occur about 1990! :O

The only thing included with the strut is a new top retaining nut. That's it. The pad and the boot are probably best replaced with Nissan parts. The dampening is at least comperable to the original SE struts, because they are much firmer than GXE struts.

Now stop drooling on your keyboards, boys.

Sarah, here are the part #s for the strut covers -->

Front Strut Dust Cover: 54055-85E00 $16.59/ea.
Rear Strut Bumper Stop/Cover: 55241-65E00 $17.08/ea.

Note: Prices are from nissanautoparts.com.

Definitely get these for whatever your going to replace.

You'll need 2 (of course) and it should run you about $40 after shipping for the fronts, $75 for a whole set.

I've always wanted to visit san fran .. get on tavelocity or whatever and see what you can do for a plane ticket hahaha.... good choice though..I think the KYB's will be my next step from the tokicos.. unless I for some reason decide this car is worth dumping $500 on Koni's... Hmmm trying to think of who I know in SF that can do a strut install.. hmmmm hmmmm well I think I know a couple LA folks.. hehe... if ya lived closer I woulda hooked you up!. you get my email??

KYB's for the SE vs. KYB's for the GXE

Is there any diferance between the two? I have a 93 GXE and I want the ride to be more stiff, so can I put SE struts on there? Would I have to replace the whole strut in the rear to make the rears more stiff or would I just have to replace the cartridge? Wow is this a lot of questions or what? Don't you hate it when people ask tons of questions in one post? Just playing, but thanks in advance for any and all info!

Hmm

I think I'm gonna delete this profile, change my name to
"HotMaximaChick" and get you guys to buy and install a Stillen Aerokit, some nice tires and rims and maybe a new suspension. And then I'll take off the wig and dress and have a good laugh. And then drive my new max, and then laugh some more, then drive it more and then laugh again.

HahhahaHAHha. I can see it now.

Have fun Actually I would do all the work myself if I knew how, so what I really need is someone to teach me

I think most newer keyboards are spill-proof.. mine is.

(found out one day when I spilled a beer on it at school.. laptop died $2500 damage, but my $19 keyboard was in fine shape.

i once worked in a computer store and i picked up a little hint

if you spill something on your keyboard.grab the keyboard from the top where the wire is and hold it upright, and at he same time turn off the computer. don't worry about shuting it down correctly because if it was setup right then you can turn it off improperly every now and then and nothin would happen. after you turn off the computer you disconnect the keyboard put the keyboard upside down and leave it. if you can take it apart then do it to make it dry but i wouldn't. this doesn't work on laptops there already spill resistant(don't go troughing it in the pool now)i'm not sure about webtv keyboards they have chips and **** in there that coould get wet instantly. the trick is to cut the power before the liquid has a chance to move around and touch to exposed ends in the keyboard.
