Well, I was on an empty tank racing, and had to turn into the gas station on the right. But I drive that 5 speed everyday, and trust me, it would of been worse. Once the VE 5 speed gets into 3rd, it is over.

Well, my auto is just about fully modded, and the 5 speed walked it. I hear ya Jay, I have no worries merging onto the freeway from the side of the road, with the 5 speed.

the autos do suck a lot when racing and stuff. i was reading this import magazine a while back and some guy put a sr20det in his auto 240sx said he could now keep up with stock 5 speed 240sx's (with the ka24de) it was really pathetic

Oh c'mon now...

I mean granted the 5spd jumped out heavily off the line.....but ANY 5spd (Honda, Toyota, heck, Cavaliers) would do that to a VE auto just for the simple fact that you can dump the clutch. I mean a VG auto would probably jump out like that on a VE auto. Why is everybody so surprised by this? You'll get this with any 5spd vs. any auto.

and remember that stock for stock, check the 4th gen forum, many of the stock guys are hitting 2.4s and up! also check the archives for Chris Cheezer(VG auto) racing a 5th gen, equal launches and he takes him of the line, but the 5th gen reels him in easy, common occurance! when I race the guys in my club I usually pull on them easy off the line...the VG is known for it superb low-end power due to the high tourque curve, but if you look at the newer VEs and VQs dynos max torque hits much later and the curve is less extreme, so its not too hard to believe an auto or 5spd VG could beat the VQ oe VE off the line!
