Want to make $50 ?
Want to make $50 ?
I will pay some on $50 plus shipping for a pair of Quality baffles for my doors. I need them with an exactly 6" hole. I am going crazy and refuse to make any other atempts. First time to thick,Second time the hole was to big,Third time they where twins and only one of them would fit in a door. I give up!!!!!!!
email Kaleb.. I made a set a long time ago and sent them to him.. they fit 6.5" speakers if that's what you need.. it has a 5.5" hole I think. If you need something a different size, then you're SOL. I don't have time to make them for at least a month or so.
If you still don't have any then, send me the mounting dimensions of the speaker and I'll make you up a set once I get settled in my new house. (that will be 2nd/3rd week in July)

Well I am pretty sure 3/4" or even 1/2" would not fit under the door panels. I am looking for "bose pod" replicas not realy just a piece of wood with a hole in it. As far as size goes?? I am selling my MB Quart RSC 216 if nobody takes them they need a perfect 6" hole. If they do sell I will probably be getting Focal Polyflex coax. I have no Idea what hole size I need for those.
the ones I have fit the focal 165 speakers perfect. (that's what I built them around)..
they're the exact same size/shape as the OEM non-bose pods.
the right one rubs on the inside of the door fram just a tad, but the left fits perfect.
materials are plywood, mdf, fiberglass, elmers glue, and RTV silicone.

Custom pods are alot of work!, not something I'd do for 50 bucks. You could modify the stock pods and fiberglass it over then cut the proper hole size using a jig

hi,
I made some a few weeks ago, ill try to take some pics or ill draw it in paint or something.
I used 3/4" Medium Density Partical Board. it will fit upto the point where the doors interior molding changes. there is where you want to cut it down to .25-.50". i made the plate and lined it up and bolted it down and then found the panel wouldnt go on right so I took it off and drilled a much with a 1" drill bit, the stuff chips off, worked like a charm.
also make it fit right and watch out for the bar (i believe its a window rail) that goes down the center(ish) area of the hole. i have some pics on my website you can see what I generally did. it works great and sounds good (no viberations, no wierd noises).
it takes some work, but its worth it. also it may help to make sure the speaker fits (not only in the board but also in the door) then leave it alone until you have the board installed, it makes it much easier to adjust stuff.
I love my setup now, I may rewire the car and amplify all the speakers, but thats later on. I want to remake some boxes that are sealed for the car doors and stuff, just to keep it sounding better, just experiment, you know?
hope this helps.

I make them in about 2-3 hours with "scrap" lumber in the shed. I save the small pieces from other projects just for stuff like this. the only hard part about it is cutting the parts to shape.
all in all, it's pretty easy to do if you're good with building stuff like this.
now if only I had 2-3 hours of spare time!

I just recently made some for myself. I understand what you mean about being able to roll down the window. Not thinking I just cut a hole in some fiberboard. lol Yeah that didnt work...
Sooooo, I made these O-rings (fit the exact mounting circle/ring of the speaker) out of 1" fiberboard to stick right over the 6" hole which pushes the speaker out an inch. Worked very good and actually makes the speaker sit perfectly inside the speaker body/grille on the door panel.
I made these pods using 1/4 inch MDF fiberboard, 1 inch fiberboard on the "rings", couple screws, some silicone, and some Elmers wood glue.
I was pretty impressed with myself.
They fit perfectly. I actually have a ton of pictures I took that I'll post tomorrow after I get the film developed.
I'll be glad to do it for you if these other guys who posted first dont/cant. Jim@Logical-Approach.com
