I got a 90 gxe. In the trunk all the way up by the back seat is the this cover. Under the cover is a roller looking thing. It's just bolted there by it self. What is this and can i unbolt and remove it. The only thing i could think of was maybe a suspension item. I'm installing two tens and it is in my way. thanks

I have no idea what it is. I figured counter weight and it was in space that my subs needed
it now sits in my room
haha
ya it's ok to remove it. Nothing that will make your car fall apart.

I saw that in mine too...

Its a big metal cylinder with a rubber center bolted to the trunk floor. im probably going to remove mine since i think my sub box creates a good amount of counter-weight

In the trunk, look all the way to the back, and the hump in the panel that is at the back seat near the center. Right behind where the armrest is on the back seat. Lift up the plastic and carpet and theres a metal thing under there
I used its bolts to ground my amps hehe..got some use out of it...

Now I know what your talking about. I'll take alook at it when I get home. It would be nice to move that, so my subs fit better. I never thought to check and see what it was before.

That is a vibrational/sound dampener. It's very heavy so it cuts down on sheet metal vibration in that very noisy rear suspension area.

I was told when I asked this before ("the ever elusive rubber ball") and was told that it was a weight. I had to ask becuase I had the rear end replaced after wrecking it and the new rear end had it, I thought, "what the He$% ?" But, I have a question for you....There is a box looking thing to the right of the intake manifold on the top of the engine. It has a hose that runs down into the intake tube, what is it? I accidently left it unhooked once and the car wouldn't run! It would miss and sputter and acted like it was going to fall apart! Anyone?

I was going to say the breather valve, but I think that's towards the (looking at the engine) left front corner (of the VG engine)

This may help for my question.....It is directly beside (to the right) of the throttle position sensor.

That box is some sort air emmissions sensor or something like that. It had a 3 letter abreviation just like a MAS. I cant remember the name of it off the top of my head but it is in the manuel. The reason that the car ran rough is because when it was not connected there was a huge vacuum leak. I noticed this also when I installed my ram air. If you plug up the ends of the hose you could probably do without it.

92GXE, touring wing, 18” racing wheels, Port&Polished intake, custom intake, custom yellow interior, racing seats, back seats taken out and replaced with subs and amps, NOS kit, Suspension tech. Lowering springs, custom grille, soon to be custom painted and have the whole engine rebuilt for big shot NOS and custom SC and tranny converted to 5-speed.

Thanks for the input. I did my custom CAI and didn't have a big enough drill bit to make a hose connection on the pipe I ran, so I just ran it into the side of the intake manifold where the hose to the rear valve cover gasket ran in and connected a filter on the valve cover line. FYI: I had a filter that I had used after reading a suggestion posted in one of the mod sections on the opening page of the forum about putting filters on these lines as to prevent heat from the valves being sucked into the engine. I will try to cap it off, I have the plugs needed from the mod I just mentioned. Thanks.
