I think I have a fuel problem ... please help-->

When I crank up my car when it's cold, it cranks right up and then idles fine. Then, I pull out of the drive way and get on the road. I start to, very easily, apply the throttle. Before the revs get a chance to get up to 2500-3000 to shift into 2nd, the cars just quits for about 1 second... and then it goes again.

So, in other words, it's like me taking my foot completely off the gas for a half second and then applying it again. But, I have my foot on the gas the entire time.

One of my friends (studying mechanic), says that it could be the fuel filter. Last time I replaced my fuel filter was about 16K miles ago. But, for the first 5 months after I put in that new fuel filter, I was driving it in Vegas. And Vegas has VERY dusty conditions.

Could this be my problem? Thanks.

change the filter 1st..it's 12 bucks, if it's gone then you're good to go. if it's still there then you can at least rule out the fuel filter.

Yeah, that's what I was going to do first. Do you think it could be many things in the fuel system? Injectors? etc? Do you even think it's fuel related?

Oh yeah, and what exactly is a vapor line? My chilton's tell me to inspect those every so often. Thanks Dan.

well when your car uses gas from the gas tank air needs to go into it.
i'm assuming u mean that vapor line.
it can be many things..but best bet is to start off w/ the filter. if it's been a while for a tune up...good idea to do that too.

All my Chilton's Manual says is "vapor lines" in the maintenance section. Well, I appreciate your help.
