Resonance at 2000RPM

My daughter just bought an '89 Maxima (automatic). There is a noticable hum /vibration only when it accelerates through 2000RPM (from a stop or at various road speeds). We get the sound in all foward drive and transmission settings as well as reverse (but not in neutral)

Does anyone know what this might be?

thanks,
John

IF its a exaust leak sound, it could be the exaust studs going. Do a search on the board about exaust studs and youll find out everything you need to know.

Thanks for the response but I don't think it's an exhast leak sound as it is a vibration / hum which comes on and fades quickly. Also the sound is completely absent when the engine is reved in neutral.
