Stillen High Flow Intake (fairly long, please read)

Does anyone know if the Stillen High Flow Intake Part #402956 is the one for my '91? Avalon Racing has a VERY miss leading web site. There are two choices, one is the Stillen High Flow, the other is the Stillen High Flow - 2002 Maxima. To me, that means there is one that fits lets say 89-01, and the other is specifically for the 2002. That is what I gathered and I infact called Avalon and asked and he told me to order the Stillen High Flow. And I told him I had a '91. So now, I received my intake and the bloody thing doesn't fit. It says 2000 Maxima on the Stillen Signature Label. On Stillen's site, this part number 402956 pertains to the 2000 specifically. The part number for my car is 402950 (89-94 SOHC), but I talked to Stillen and told him it was a '91 and he asked me if it was an SE, which it is, and he told me I need the part number 402949 (92-94 DOHC). He also told me I had dual overhead cams. This I did not know. If anyone can make any sense from all this, please drop a line. It is drving me insane, especially since I ordered it on the 14th of May and I didn't get it until the 31st. This was due to Memorial Day. Thanks.

-Sean

you have the SOHC VG motor, is it just a filter or are there more pieces to it, if its just a filter it should be universal

Stillen is wrong. The DOHC's weren't put into the SE's until 92. You have a 91 therefore you still have the SOHC motor. Did the filter come with the MAF adapter? It should fit without a hitch...

I dont see how even if they did send you one for the VE how it wouldnt fit.

I mean arent popchargers pretty much universal on Maxima's? It's just a bracket and a filter right?

I have a stillen intake on my 93SE VE30DE DOHC that came from my friend's 91SE VG30E SOHC and it works perfectly

all 3rd gens have the same MAFS (Mass Air Flow Sensor) which is what these intakes bolt onto so you shouldn't have a problem with VG/VE

maybe your MAFS is broken and you need a replacement, if so email me, I have a spare for sale

Answer

Th ebottom line is we sent the wrong high flow.

If you have a 91 and we sent a 2k version it will be different.

Our order shows a 2k car. More than likely the order order was processed worng. Sinple fix here. Send the 2k back and we will get you the 91. I need the engine configuration though.

Regards

i too think that the site needs to be a little more specific. the parts arent described in full, the body kits dont have a brand they just say "full kit"

The bronze colored support brackets for the VG Stillen intake is slightly different from the one for a VE also. Stillen sent me the one for a VG before they realized in wouldn't fit a VE. A couple YEARS later I finally got the right one. I had to hand make a temporary one until they designed it correctly for a VE. That's Stillen for ya.
