help with electrical problem please

Okay yesterday I was connecting a power inverter for my game cube, and to make a long story short the two wires touched,(heres the long part) I had it on the same fuse as my HU so I opened up the pass door and some smoke came out, so I was like Oh **** and I ran around to the drivers side door and went to pull the fuse, when I pulled out the fuse I accidentally grabbed the one below it also (kind of bridging it )and I sent more power through the wire which caused more smoke, worried I took out my deck and disconected the battery, I looked and found that the yellow wire w/ green stripe had melted about 2 inches behind the harness, so I figured I would just replace it where it had stoped melting, so I followed it back as far as I could with just the center console off and I couldnt get to the end of the melting, so I took out the glove box and still couldnt get to the end of it, so I figured I would just run a new wire from the fuse box, well the wire was melted all the way from the fuse box to the harness(by the stereo) and I couldnt get the new wire into the terminal for the fuses so I cut one end going into the fuse and used one of the fuse things that you find on wires(the cylander fuses) and attached it in place of the other fuse, heres the problem, it doesnt work, Its acting just like it does when the fuse is blown,(the cd ejects and tape ejects but no power other then that) I reset it and tried everything I could think of, even taking one end of the fuse thing to the other(connecting directly without the fuse)and It wouldnt work, Is there something Im missing?

btw before I had replaced the wire the old one still worked with a new fuse, so I know I didnt permanently damage it.

as long as you have a good power source there it should work (other than that id almost have to look at it to see what you did)

BTW check your e mail

also

now I noticed that my blinkers dont work but my hazards do, and I checked every fuse, all are good? I dont think there is anything else not working, just the blinkers and the power to my radio, (but its like when the fuse blows and you cant turn it on, but you can still eject the cd,(no my deck isnt broken this is what it does when the fuse is blown)

, but the new fuse isnt blown and I tried it without the fuse (directly connected) it doesnt make sense because all I did was take each wire going into the old stock fuse and attach it to this type of fuse,(which is not blown)

and also everything worked fine when I replace the stock fuse(the way it was after it smoked)but I didnt want the wire to melt anymore so I replaced it.

1st mistake...hack job wiring. now you're paying for it.
IF your fuse was the right amp/rating and if the wiring was correct your wires would never melt. two wires touched and it shorted. NORMALLY it would just blow the fuse and thats it. if you had it to the point of melting the wires..either you ran a fuse that was huge or you didn't use a fuse and ran a piece of wire instead of the fuse.

only thing u can do it pull everything out and check what's melted. replace what's melted and pray that's all the damage.

the fuse was to big because I put the wrong one in there when I was testing when the wires touched,

I replaced the melted wire and ran it, im past that problem, and I know I messed up and I dont need you to tell me what I already know.

This is the exact reason they tell you to disconnect the battery before working on electrical stuff...

using that fuse but it was in for like a second and when I was tring to tape the wires they touched, I figured it out, the fuse box is wired differently then I thought, the wire from the signals goes into the wire for the audio, I know what I have to do now, thanks anyways,
