I read a couple of the threads posted over the weekend and I don't see what's wrong with doing over 70 mph in a Maxima with over 100,000 miles on it. Now I do agree that 145+ mph is a little extreme, but someone was talking about going 90 to 95 is abusive. I do also realize that this person did have a problem with their engine while doing it. But still, my car has 111,000 miles on it and my sift points are around 3,000 to 4,000 (I have a manual) and I do 90 to 105 mph a lot and I have had hardly any engine problems be cause of it. I guess I just take really good care of my engine. Anyone else have anything to say on this matter?

well

Have had my car since fall 97 and put 55k on it since then. I have put on a lot of mods and had a lot of fun in this car. If Chevy is like a rock (lol) then my 89 5spd is Cryotreated Titanium

I do over 90 regularly in my 90 SE with orignal motor at 176k...seems to do fine...
I dont accelerate fast and do burnouts n stuff tho..just high highway speeds My car rarely sees redline.

I have 145,000 on mine, had to replace the manual trans right after I bought it two years ago. Ever since, my Max sees redline at about every other shift and the tires usually spin whether I'm trying to or not, it just pulls that hard. I drag race it in season, starting last year and haven't had any probs beside the usuall maintenance. I just use Redline gear oil and make sure I keep her tuned, clean, and always add at least 2-5 new mods a year. Expensive, but she's one of the best looking Max's I've seen and I intend to keep her that way. That reminds me, I need to post some pics of her and the mods, I've not done that yet!

I think I've taken my old max to it's limits... I hit 100mph daily, redline in 1st & 2nd & sometimes 3rd usually 5-20 times daily, burnouts, did a neutral drop twice (by accident), manually shift gears from 1-2-D in my Auto, sometimes downshift from D-2-1, brake torque acceleration, high speed driving... this was on my STOCK Auto Tranny that had 150K! I don't know what the deal is but that tranny seemed bullet proof (expect for neutral drops).

The last time i really pushed for top speed was while my car had 70,000 some miles on it and I was living in Houston. I wussed out at 135 mph, but I could feel Max was willing to do over that.
