Right, the 3rd gen Maximas (at least in the US) have only the GXE and SE models. The GLE of newer models maybe have the same equipment as a fully optioned 3rd gen GXE max. Basically the 3rd gen GXE model covered BOTH the GXE and GLE versions of newer Maximas, in terms of optional equipment.

So there are both bare-bones (hardly) and fully optioned GXE models, and then the sport-tuned SE model on 3rd gen. And the SE can have leather and BOSE too

 

my question was the one that started this whole thing, and after doing some research im agreeing with you. i think i just have a fully optioned GXE. thanks for everyone who helped me figure it out.
