Strange Timing Problem????

My car is idling at about 2000 RMP's, and the timing is so far advanced it's about 2 inches past the last mark. I set it to 20deg adv about 2 months ago and sometimes it would run bad and Idle high. Now it does this constantly. I checked to make sure the distibutorto make sure it wasn't loose, and it wasn't. I run 93oct gas all the time and have never had a problem. My thoughts are that a sensor is bad and causing an incorrect reading and the ecu advanced the timing to correct it. Has anyone had the same problen? I'm not sure, but I could use the help.

you can change the idle speed if its too high. It tells you how if you have a FSM, Chilton, or Haynes manual.

Re: Strange Timing Problem????

Try unplugging the TPS, and reving the engine 3 times over 3000rpm. THis should lock in base timing mode. If that doesn't work unplug the IAC and AAC to see if the idle comes down. If it does then U know what the problems are.
