clear corners
what exactly are clear corners? are they the lights that come on when you flip on your turn signal? what color are the factory? mine are clear. what is the highest wattage bulb you can put in here? can you get different colors? does anyone know where i can see a stock pic of a 93 or 94 stock GXE? how do people make a grill out of gutter guard? i saw this and was wondering how they did it and if it looked good. thanks for all the help. im new to the maxima and am trying to learn:-)
Clear corners are the corner light assembly piece. If you look at my sig pic you will see the whole side lens & part of it is orange. Well with the clear corners the orange gets replaced as clear (except its not the little orange piece by itself that gets replaced its the whole side piece)...make sence...I hope so. It's so easy to install even a female can do it
I did mine. where the bulb goes (normally behind the orange lens) I put blue bulbs in mine. when you order it usually comes with amber bulbs (which is funny because my stocks were clear?). Well You can order them from Courtesy Nissan - 1-800-527-1909. I think they are around $55 for the pair. Hope this helps. Oh yeah & the light that comes on when you turn on your blinker is just a cornering light. Mine came with an amber bulb to replace but I just used my old clear bulb. I was gonna put a blue bulb in there too but I cound't find a blue bulb in that size.

okay, so basicly its that little vertical orange strip at the far end of the cornering light. people buy the assembly to make this piece clear instead of orange. am i right? blue would look good. is that legal? i know its different for every state.... thanks
yes people buy the clear corners to replace that little orange strip. Blue's as far as I know are probably illegal, but Im not sure. From what I hear it's illegal to have them for the blinkers, and there are no blinkers in the clear corner assembly. Just the cornering light. I've pulled up next to many cops & none of them have said anything to me yet .....*knocks on wood* but I do carry around the amber bulbs just in case I get pulled over
when i got pulled over, take into consideration i was being a complete ******* to the officer, he told me that altering the amber color of the corner lamp was illegal. i have amber bulbs in mine, he said they are still illegal. i read up on this with the pennsylvania laws, and technically he is right. now i didnt get pulled over for having the clear corner lenses, but if you are speeding or something else they can always through the illegal lenses on the ticket as well. i was going to put in blue bulbs, since my car is blue and i thought it would look cool. doing this in my area would just scream out "give me a ticket". i live in pittsburgh and they are not too leanient with these laws. read up on your state laws to see what it says. you can find it out by searching on the net.

This is how it is everywhere i believe...
To have anything on your car that blinks, or creates some type of pulseating light, the color must be amber or clear. This is because you must have a licence to run a blue or red pulsating light because they are designated for emergency vehicles only (unless installed by manufacturer). You can most of the time get away w/ having yellow, orange, or red, but these and any other color are ILLEGAL. I actually have blue bulbs in my clear corners on my Ranger, and I have been pulled over twice. I weasled my way out of any ticket, Thank God.
As for the clear corners, clear side markers, (and clear tails, since they belong in the same family)....Unless your local government has changed the laws, no cop is allowed to give you a ticket on the actuall color of the lens itself ** IF ** it has a D.O.T. number or an S.A.E. number on it. This certifies that they are street legal.
I hope this clears up any confusion 8-)

my only argument with this is that none of the lights (the cornering light or the light behind the orange part) blink or pulsate. At least not on my car & if they do then mine done blink. If I haven't replaced the bulbs in my blinker then it should be ok right?
i have blue and clear bulbs in mine but i also did the corner light rewire so they blink now too. but i've never had any problems with cops or anything but i've seens lots of hondas pulled over for it.
and hey rambo.....heres the pic of my grille that i made. i did a crappy little write up on my website on how to do it so you can look there or e-mail me if you want some more info.

None of these aftermarket parts are DOT approved. they say not street legal on the boxes. same with any colored bulb that is not clear or amber. even all of the hyper whites i have seen say not inteded for street use on them. same with strobe lights or anything else similar. they can actually pull you over for having a lisence plate frame if they wanted to (not that this is the topic, just using an example of how strict the laws are concerning these types of things). i would not worry about putting on any of these things except the different colored lights. just use common sense when doing this stuff. if it looks like it doesnt belong, it probably doesnt. police often use these little things to pull someone over if they suspect they may have drugs in the car or something. it just gives them a way to pull someone over they suspect of doing other things that they dont have proof of yet.

clear lenses
Both my clear corners and my clear tails on my '93 Ranger have D.O.T. numbers on them. When I did get pulled over, they wanted to yell at me for the colored bulbs that I have in them, not the lenses themselves...I dont know about the bulbs themselves (if they say anything or not about legality), but i have blue corners, red brake lights and rear turn signals, and since my reverse light is superwhite, it looks blue when it is not on, and they yelled at me for that too.
Hey James...NICE GRILL!! 8-)
