Thing that holds the engine
Hello Maximians!! i have 1992 Maxima and there is noise coming from the bottom of the car like ggggggggrrrrrrrrrrr(metal kind) or from the engine don't know. but i went to the mechanic and he said the thing that holds the engine i think is called engine mount or something is cracked and so thats why the max is making the noise. and he said it will be over $150 to get it and fix it. so is that about right and can the engine mount make noise when it's braked or cracked?? And a general question how do you know which engine you have?? WHen i opened my hood on the Engine it just said NIssan v6 3000 so which is that is it Vgd, soch or doch?? Thanks Maxima rocks!!

Oh and another thing Terry may not be the most knowledgable when it comes to the max (no offence Terry) but at least he isnt on hear acting like he knows everything there is to know about Maximas. Instead he is trying to learn.
Sorry had to say that I am not standing up for Terry I am sure he can do that himself...its just that this guy has struck a nerve with me.

Okay.. a real post before I lock this thing down.
Terry.. the OEM engine mounts usually run about $80 each and they're not exactly the most fun to replace. they're not too bad, as I've done them in my garage with a couple floor jacks. BUT they're not much fun either. $150 for parts and labor to replace one sounds about right. an hour of labor at a mechanic is $35-75, depending on where you live.
Sooo, add an hour of labor to $80 and you have the ballpark of $150.
