spark plug wires ????

I just found 2 boxes of new spark plug wires in my friends garage. one is accel super stock 8mm silicone wires and the other is autolite 7.5mm silicone wires. I really need to know if I would be able to install either one on my 90 max? Tell me the pros and cons. Our stock wires are only 7mm and I was told that you get better voltage flow and all that good stuff from thicker wires.

Well it depends...are the wires made for your car or are they the universal kind you make yourself. Actually the larger plug wires have more insulation which means you can run a higher current through there and it will not give you cross talk (misfires).

You will not tell a difference in performance if you just put 8mm wires on the car and do nothing else. Another thing to consider is the type of winding used in the wire. If it is a solid copper (accel used to make one) do not use it on your max although you would think that it would perform better because its solid copper it will cause interference with the electronics of the ignition and your radio will buz.

First though find out if it is for your car.

I had the Accel superstock 8mm wires on my max VG until yesterday. They worked fine, and for $20, was well worht it. I used a v-8 kit (chevy I think) and used the ones that fir the best lengthwise. They don't fit the stock looms well though, really got to shove em in there, and the boots are short, so installing them is touch without plug wire pliers or long nose long handle pliers. I just repalced them with NGK 7mm just because I'm trying to get my car back to specs, and having the correct wires meant something. The long extensions that stock style wires have prevent heat damage to the wire. Those accels will be laying right on the intake manifold which over time abrades the insulation and can cause it to arc, and are exposed to cyl. head heat, so they may not last as long. I had them on my car for about 2 years with no probs though. I'd say if you NEED wires (yours are shot) then go for it, but personally, I'd leave OEM style wires on if they are OK.

I would stick w oem or better, no kragen crap. I bought the borg warner cuz the auto lights were pricey compaired to those, then i took my car in today and the coil wire had much more resistance than another nissan oem wire that was twice as long, im gonna end up replacing them w oem wire after just 6 months.
