how bad is it. to burn out in a auto?

ok i do it all the time.. no super smoke but you can see some before i take off..all im doing is slaming the gas. and its about 4-5 sec. of tire skreaching.. the Rpm's go sky high, but i let go of the gas before it comes to 5500 rpm's
-the tires are spinning so would this still put that much of load on the tranny.?
i can see my self needing a tranny re-build at the end of the summer.
-got a FSTB.. it kicks a$$!

Just because the wheels are spinning does not mean no harm is being done to your transmission. It can not take burnouts, and there will not be much warning when it does decide to go...

yup... maxima auto tranny suck so bad... that you can be driving on the road and all of a sudden your engine revs up, but your car goes no where. thats when you find your tranny died.

believe me, driving it normally and no hard runs. your auto tranny will break regardless.

You're scaring me because I do 10 second, half track burnouts all the time in my VE Auto.

i can do burnouts in the rain, but when its dry out, i cant.
are you talking about foot to the floor or powerbraking? I can do massive ones powerbraking, but I dont make it a habit.

No, not really. I can't back that up. I can barely get a chirp without a torque break. But, with a 5K neutral drop.... lol just kidding.

Max auto trannies are not that bad...there are many other cars out there which have trannies that will **** out way more often than these cars.

ready, keep your 1800 and sell your max, buy a 5spd and do real burnouts, I wouldnt put that much money into the tranny unless you were planing modding the car and keeping it, I thought you wanted to sell it too?

try over $3K..that's not including install labor.
the tag doesn't even include a shift kit or a torque convertor.

http://www.levelten.com/store/import...ssan_trans.htm

also there's a difference between "burn out" and "traction loss"...being able to smoke bad tires don't mean a damn thing.

Last night I was messing around and did a search on transmissions and found a post about the level 10 and someone said it would be about 3500 here is the thread about it

I was doing the search to find the thread while Dan was posting. So disregard my post.

Not to sound harsh, but you guys should all know better. How many times do you guys have to rebuild your tranny before you realize it's weak? A transmission cooler will only do so much for you, spining your tires and brake torqueing alot is going to cause you to go into expenses. Without a doubt you should all have a transmission cooler on your car. The other day i went to pep boys, what did i see? A 3rd gen getting it's transmission replaced.

Somehow when it's time to rebuild a tranny you guys pull money out your asses but when it's time to modify your car, "i'm broke man!!"

Doing burn outs will kill your tranny. I have never done a burn out. The worst I ever did was flash stalling at the racetrack and that was it. I also have a tranny cooler in my car and I still blew my tranny. My car has had 3 new trannys in it. When it goes there will be no sign before it goes, its just gonna happen.

5spds have a clutch thats replaceable dumping the clutch will break the tranny over time.

crappy nissan auto trannys run on hydrolics and Torq converter and sensitive VB's, electronic solenoids.. and so many other things can break in there..

ever took one apart? when u get the chance you`ll understand why.
