another max on its way out!

ok, since ive bought the car 2 years ago its always idle kinda rough. i took it to get looked over before i bought it and they said it was fine. last summer i spent thousands on engine repairs. obviously those people had no idea what they were doing. i just got back from the transmission shop, the max is about dead. he said its only running on 4 cylinders, missfiring, cams probably out of alignment. he also said that theree was a ton of metal shavings when he flushed the tranny. he gave it 6 months. . i guess i gotta find an engineering job very quick now. i guess ill have alot of mods to sell off of it.

I'll take those springs and struts off your hands. My company is mainly looking for Electrical, Municipal, Mechanical engineers (but we hire engineers of all backgrounds) . I'm mechanical...we design and build all kinds of stuff, bridges, pump stations, water treatment plants, schools etc. IF you are looking for anything like this in the South NJ, Philadelphia region, give me a shout. Unlike most companies, we are hiring, growing and thriving..that's why I took this offer. Check www.rve.com

Yup.. job prospects locally were great until williams communications went under and laid off 500+ telecom/computer/optical/electrical engineering jobs in town. DOH!

probably be in Dallas, OK City, or San Antonio for a few years after graduation anyway so my fiance (wife as of the 29th. ) can get her PHD at a decent school

Dont worry about that because its not how you get the job but how you do the job after you got it.

Opportunity comes in many ways.

good luck

I have a good friend working for Lockheed Martin in Florida (Orland I think)..good position. Some things to consider...If you go into the private, no-corporate world, you will have more freedom, and make more $$$ quicker. If you go large corporate, benefits get better, loose a little freedom (depends on how you like to party, know what I mean ) and the pay will be slightly lower, with less frequent promotions..Go military ( I mean civilian, as an engineer) and the pay goes way down, promotions are set in stone as far as pay increase amounts and when you get them, but the benfits are the best, and the jobs are pretty cool. I know for a fact that Norfolk Naval Shipyard is in desperate need of engineers, as are most non-enlisted engineering groups. I was given offers by Norfolk and Picatinny Arsenal, but neither wanted to pay me what I was looking for..would have take 3 years to get where I am now. Just some things to consider. keep in mind that in th emilitary groups, EVERYONE gets promoted at the same rate, even the schmo next to you picking his *** all day. Job security is nice though. The jobs are cool too. At Norfolk, which is where ALL US Navy ships come for service on the Atlantic Coast, I would have been designing and installing equipment of all sorts on Aircraft Carriers, battle ships etc. But the pay was nearly 20K less than what I get now per year for my first three years.
I can barely get by as it is! What the hell. Be ready for a reality check. I am finally earning a great salary and yet i still live paycheck to paycheck. Damn the system! It takes so long to get situated. Been working since Feb and am just now getting a handle on things. I need to get into Realestate! Good luck friend.

I have been giving serious considering to a sales related job. Does anyone know what is required to be either a Real Estate agent or a car salesman? I have heard that getting hired as a car salesman is relatively simple. You either sink or swim. You only get paid commission? True, false?

To TheBull,

Sorry we hijacked your thread and I am very sorry about your car. Hope you find a good replacement soon.

ALL sales jobs are sink or swim..here's a better idea. Get a job that covers your expenses and leaves you with a few hundred a month to spare (easier said than done I know!), get a mortgage on a piece of rental property, put some renters in it and the business begins. Make one rental work, and the banks will throw more and more loans your way for more properties. Realstate agents make like 5%, own the place and you will reap the benfits for years..just an idea. Sorry TheBull.

Lockheed is a great company to work for...my girlfriend and a couple of my class mates work for them...so far no complaints...would you be in the Moorestown, NJ location or the Valley Forge, PA one....? good luck, but give them a shot if all else fails.
