Custom Gear Shift

I made a custom gear shift at work today. It is the first one, and I can see some changes I'll be making already. It needs to be just a tad smaller in diameter. For pics go to my home page. The next one I may anodize black, then engrave the text.

Just as a rough estimate, once I get everything worked out it looks like the ***** will be around $75 a piece, unless a large quantity can be made at once, then the price will be lower. Anidized ***** will probably be $5.00 more, and can come in red, blue, black, and a few other colors. I'll post pics, and keep you updated once I have the final one made.

dude, that is so tight! did you use a CNC router? i used to work for CNT fixures. They make automated routers and robots like that. I know how you could have done that on a CNC machine. anyway, i'm just wondering. i'd like a normal aluminum looking one.

I can write Maxima, Maxima GXE, and Maxima SE across the top. As for names, it gets to be a pain in the **** to reproram the NC for every different name :-(. On Monday I'll post the pics of the modified shifter, as well as the aluminium door locks :-). $75 will cover shipping and handling as well as COD. Anodizing will be more than I expected, and it depends on how many I can have done at the same time. The minimum charge is $30 per color. So it is expensive to have just one done. I think it looks nice as its natural color with the natural aluminium door locks.

UNFORTUNATELY, I don't have any knowledge of automatic shifters :-(. I am concentrating on the sticks for now since that is all I ever drive (unless its a rental). If I can find a local slush-o-matic to look at, and take measurements off of, I will look into making those as well. If you really want your name on the shifter I can do that. The only problem I am having is the CAM system I am using doesn't output the right code for the CNC, and sometimes it gives me very undesireable results (say a 2" diameter loop in a .25" high #1), so I have to program text several times before it will come out right. (good thing the CNC's come with verufy before you push the little green button!).

I posted new pics on my homepage. It is dark out, that is why they look dull. The locks and new shifter are just as brilliant as the first one.

Dunno yet, once I get the tap (hopefully tomorrow), I'll be able to install them, and make sure they work, then I'll know.

That looks great

Do you have any pics other than pics from the top angle? I dont have a 5spd, just interested in the other angle.

Good idea on the door locks too. Very original I must say!
