brakes!

ok, it's time to change my brakes. there's one odd thing though. i've always planned on converting my rear drums (93 GXE) to disks when i changed my brakes. now that it's time for new brakes, i decide to go look at my brakes, and notice my rear drums aren't drums, they're disks! so first of all, i was wondering if anyone else has this problem (or not so problem at all) cause i've always heard of GXE's having drums on the rears on this board. also, i want to get new rotors, i'm not sure what i'm getting yet, but would i just get the part for the SE rear then? i hope that last part was clear enough. thanks for any replies.

let me guess, you've got ABS, correct?

ALL ABS maximas have discs in the back, whether GXE or SE.
Also, I believe all canada-spec maxes also have discs in the back, due to different safety laws.

as for which parts to order, just tell them you've got discs, or tell them you have an SE. either way, you'll get the right parts.

thanks...the car was originally owned by my grandmother so i guess she wanted ABS. i was thinking that could be why, that it was just an option on the GXE. she should've just went with the SE, oh well...thanks again

buy brembo rotors from jagworks.com, they're pretty cheap. Do a search also lots of stuff on this topic.

yeah i've been searching a lot recently on brakes...i was surprised no one else mentioned having a GXE with rear disks(that i found anyway) someone recently mentioned a 89-91 (i think) SE with rear drums, which is also odd though.
yeah so i've come to the conclusion that brembo solids are the best for practical use..and Xdrilled and slotted crack and warp respectively, so i think that's what i'm gonna get all around.
but pads i didn't find as much on, but it seems to be that most people suggest greenstuffs of axxis metalmaster pads, and the axxis dust less. so i think i want to go with the axxis metalmaster pads, any input on those, or that whole setup?

Brembo blanks are definitely the way to go, especially if you can find them cheap (~$45/rotor).

I have Axxis MM, which seem to get better reviews than the EBC's. I am very happy with them- they do dust more than stock pads, but stopping is much improved. If you want to spend a little more money, you can try Porterfield RS4 pads. Do a search, they seem to be very highy rated, and may not dust as much or eat rotors as quickly.

ok thanks, i think that's what i'm gonna go with. jagworks is only 44 each right? or you know what, i guess i can not be a newbie and search around for prices myself. but i have heard people say that nopi doesn't send your stuff? is this true, or still true? do they give problems?

on the note of the porterfield R4-S pads, there's a group deal going on through custommaxima.com. saves you a good chunk of change.

check out custommaxima's website for more info.
