Oil Leak!

I have a 93' SE (VE engine) and i just replaced the main crank seal behind the crank pully. The oil still leaks but nothing coming out from under the pully now! It now looks like its coming from the front of the oil pan towards the front of the car near the oil filter. I was wondering if that could be my gasket, or is there another seal that i am missing? Also how hard would it be to replace the oil pan gasket? Any help is greatly appriciated!!

thanks
-mike

Re: Oil Leak!

I think it might be your oil pressure switch. I just changed mine because it was leaking down the oil filter and all over the alternator. The switch sits right above the oil filter and there is a special oil pressure switch socket available to remove it with. Oh, don't go to the dealer for this part, they charge $50. I got mine at pep boys for $6.

I'm sure any auto parts store would carry it. I have also heard of people using a large deep well socket, I forget the size though.

Re: Re: Oil Leak!

I believe I have the same leak, but are you refering to the Oil Pressure Sending Unit or a oil pressure switch ???? My leak is coming from a plug of some sort directly under the oil filter. This leak is bad...

oil leak

oil switch or oil sending unit is the same thing. Some mechanic prefer one over the other. Auto part store sells a socket for them. I have not replace mine so i don't know how accessible it is, but for other cars, i just a vise grip or a monkey wrench. I have bad experience with oil switch from pepboys. U can spend a little more and get oem parts from the dealer.
