ASP Racing Pulley

Hi everyone. Just wanted to know the guys with the ASP Racing pulley on the VE engine, is it worth it? Does it make a difference? It's listed for $119.95. Let me get some info before purchasing and installation. How hard is to install, looks hard? How much will a shop charge to put in? Thanks

I just put mine on this weekend. Good gains, better for 5speeds. It is not hard.

Take off all 3 drive belts (AC, powersteering/water pump, and alternator).

Remove crank pulley bolt (easier with air tools, but I've done it twice without them)

pull off crank pulley, (may need a gear puller, needed for my VG, but my VE one just slid right off.

put on new pulley (for the VE, I had to beat it on with a 2X4 and rubber hammer)

put on new belts, (the ones listed on the sheet from asp are not exactly right, I'd try a 378K4 for the PS/WP, a 325K4 for the alternator, and a 460K4 (correct) for the AC)

How are the gains for the 5-speed VE? It says its a 15% reduiction in weight, but what are we looking at as far as horsepower? Is it worth the money?

i have one

the gains are pretty noticable. low and mid range are improved. my 0-60 times dropped too. they are more noticable on 5-speeds though. search this topic. you will find tons of info on them.

I bought mine from ASP in person. I saw there price sheet. It said the retail was $119, but the wholesale was $79, so it looks like RPM Outlet is still makeing $20 of it.

actually i believe it's a 15% reduction in diameter. i don't think that the weight is calculated. my UDP had to weigh less thanhalf what my stock harmonic balancer weighed. . .

I believe I read somewhere that as a general rule of thumb you make 2 hp for every 1 lb lost off the crank. Just an FYI.

UDP and ECU are about all I'm lacking in the mod category. UDP should be coming soon. The gains are also good for the auto. Aaron says his UDP gave him some more low end grunt and took a chunk of time off his 60'.

the power gain varies depending on the vehicles current power... and the pullies usually around half the weight of stock.
