How much hp will I see with these mods

As you may know I totaled my car, and am buying it back from insurance, putting the 1993 SE 5 speed into a 1992 SE auto. While the car is out (and thanx to my insurance) I am going to be installing a UDP, Stillen aluminium flywheel, aftermarket clutch (probably not Centerforce, heard too many bad things, any suggestions?), CAI, Y-pipe, high flow cat, Greddy cat back exhaust, and reprogrammed ECU (should I go with JWT or Stillen?). With these mods what kind of hp am I looking at achieving? I figure conservatively 230?

Does JWT have a website (for the ECU)?

230?!

only if you use riceboy math.

just dyno it afterwards and find out.

230hp is a 40hp gain?? Nope. Maybe 25hp w/ the ecu. BTW Stillen just resells JWT's ecu.

If I have 190 at the CRANK stock, and add these mods at the CRANK what will I see. I realize I will lose alot through the transaxle. Or what is the hp at the wheels when it is stock?

I hope you say 230 as in CRANK hp, right? Even at that it still seems a little generous. I've read some stuff on ECU giving about 15 and 15, but that seems a little overboard. I'm not sure if anybody has actually dyno'd the gains of the ECU on a VE.

With all the bolt-on's you're probably looking at about 185 (more if the ECU is as good as it claims) or so hp...

Speaking of that I need to dyno mine.

Stock at the wheels is around 160 or so...

Oops. I am glad that I asked this question. Let me redo my math.

Extra crank hp?
UDP 9hp
ECU 10hp
Cai and exhaust 10hp

Total 30ish?

Then take out the tranny ineffeciency, and maybe get 25 at the wheels. As you guys are saying. Are these mods going to make much of a difference on my buttdyno? I would imagine that the aluminium flywheel while not adding hp, will help it rev quicker, and not put as much of a drain on my now diminished hp (less rotating mass).

(Why can't I just stay in my dream world?)

You'll probably end up with close to 200 to the wheels...from what i've seen actual wheel HP on nissans are low compared to the factory crank hp rating.

VQ guys with most all the bolt-ons (minus ECU) are pushing like 185-188 hp. However they usually have slightly better hp and torque numbers, still comparable to the VE though.

If the ECU will really give you 12-15 hp like they claim, then you'll be up there relatively close to 200 WHP. I've never seen a VE 5spd dyno from a car that was actually fully modded. Keep in mind Dirksmoothe got 168 hp and 178 tq from his VE AUTO with just CAI and GReddy. I'd say 200 WHP from the 5spd is pretty attainable.

I'll get 200 WHP from my 5spd when I finally get it.

Maxima_Van_WA...to be honest...what I felt most on the butt dyno was the CAI. I thought I'd feel the y-pipe more, but surprisingly it was the CAI by far on the butt-dyno.

WSP dynoed a VE 5spd with 2.5" ypipe, carsound cat, and catback with results of 149hp and 164tq with that setup a CAI would add about 8hp, pulley 6hp, ECU 8hp, flywheel 10hp..

the results will vary cause not all maximas are the same but those are relatively what you are looking at for gains. cat/catback would add close to nothing.

from what ive read, i think a UD Pully will give you the greatest butt dyno difference than a CAI, but its interesting that the CAI beat the y-pipe

Just to add to all of this, all of these mods are planned for my VE engine with 59,095 miles on it. I guess what my original purpose to the thread, is to ask that after putting on said mods, will I be dramatically quicker than a stock SE? For shist and giggles, let's say I can get a quarter mile time stock of said 15.5. What would could I theoretically get (If I was good at drag racing) in the quarter with the mods on? Even more simple, let's say I raced my stock car with my modded car from 0 to 100, about how many car lenghts ahead would the modded car be?

That VE was running poor at the time (I think it may have been Dan's VE). If I remember correctly it had some bad injectors on it and some other stuff wrong with it at the time. I surely wouldnt go by those numbers.

Maxima_Van_Wa...fully modded VE's should run mid-low 14's depending on driver. Lol and what kinda question is the 0-100 thing?

Yeah, check out the Dyno forum, my stock VE 5-speed did a ton better than that.

I would have to say, since that is the most obvious thing to have done, that is why I hadn't thought of it. Thanks! I'll look there.
