i need to buy a 5spd for my max. need something in decent shape cause i need it to last a few years. let me know whats out there

how much you looking to spend? where you at? 95-96 trans or 97-99? (they both will work for all years but they are slightly diff)

 

i need one that works, whats the difference in the two

 

^^^Yes, enlighten us please. I was under the impression that they were the same...

 

95-96 5spds only have one synchro for first gear. with those you can only easily shift into first from a complete stop. if you are still rolling slow when you want to shift into first it usually has to be forced in pretty hard.

97-99 have 2 synchros for first gear and it can easily be shifted into while going slow or from a stop.
