GI: 97-99 Led Tails

I have some supplies left over from a project I started for my new car a month back and figured I would see if people were interested in led boards for their cars. This is the board I had in my car before.

I can build these for $300+shipping. Anyone interested? Turn around should be a few weeks. Any interest? Right now I can probably make two sets of boards. The reason I put this as a gauging interest is because I dont feel like spending the time and material to make the boards if no one will want them. Material is worth more if its not soldered to some pc boards ha.

How many hours do you put into making these?

I can do some for the 95-96 no problem. I just would need one side of tails for measurements for the boards (as the dimensions I have for the 97-99 tails wouldn't fit the 95-96). If you wanted some let me know. There was a nice set of Davids red clears for sale on the forum and I thought those would be great for a retro. Just not dropping my own money if people wont buy them later ha.

Yes I can do signals and reverse no problem as well. It is more money because I need more material and time but I just did a full set for someone a few months back. I would say the price for a full set would be around $400. LEDs, resistors, boards, solder will be close to $100. Thats barely adding any of my own time. Would you be interested in a full setup?

Well thats how you spend your money. Great. This is why I put up a GI thread instead of building and selling. People never want to spend the money. Just like why I didn't build them before. People ask and ask but when it gets to building no one wants to pay. I know it seems like alot of $300 but the material being used is the best quality and isn't some cheap ebay brand leds. I wish I could produce them for $200 for people but I just can't. I would make nothing for myself (possibly even lose out of my pocket).

I already had some guy PM that I was ridiculous and he could probably make them for nothing. I understand people have trouble understanding the cost but it's not cheap to build these. Heck, even Kevlo was selling them for the same price before. Plus when you have no knowledge of how to wire them or control them with the car wiring its not so easy. I just ask that you guys don't come in the thread and start saying how crazy the cost is. If you knew materials cost you'd understand where the cost comes from.

Anywho...

Yeah thats true. Well I hope someone wants some. I like building them and would like to put my work to use with these things. I'm checking into an old supplier to see if I can get a bulk for cheaper. Maybe I could make the boards for $250. But I assume thats still too much for people. Oh well.

Agreed. I PMed you about a question I had and honestly, your price is NOT high at all. People just have to understand the time and materials that go into making this. These are fully custom tail lights, not aftermarket ones you can just go out and swap in. And yes, Maxima owners are cheap. lol Hence, you see more 4th gens look like Civics nowadays with unpainted hoods/bumpers, etc.

Damn, surprised in no interest. I'm willing to make some for $220 plus shipping if people want them. Thats pretty damn cheap for LED tails on here. The only other set of these I've seen for sale on here are going for $300. Different style for $200. Someone's got to want some ha. Material is going to waste.

I would support you on those if I had the money, but being a college-broke student, I can't. Good Luck with your sale though. I would love to have those on my car... Poor excuse, etc etc..

Very tempting. I think my David L's would look sexy LED'd. Give me some time to think about it. $220 plus shipping sounds too damn good to pass up.

At one time many people had them, no one has them now because the alteeza fad has died down.
That's why they are 50 bux, the demand for them just isn't there any more.

Don't even try to drop that in hear for comparison.
Quality parts are being discussed in here.

OP def nice product, if I wasn't a broke college student as well I'd be interested in these(a whole set actually, go for the complete look). But I'm bookmarking just in case...
